We had the good fortune of connecting with Evren Yılmaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evren, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Making my own choices and expressing my creative vision is vital to me, so I decided to go the independent artist path. It’s not just a profession, it’s a way of life that brings me joy. I’m able to produce from the heart and engage with those who understand and appreciate my artistic creations directly. Being an independent artist keeps me authentic, allowing me to infuse passion into every piece.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

It was definitely not easy. Especially trying to juggle my day job and my personal art could be quite exhausting at times. However, I didn’t give up because I’m deeply connected to my art, and that kept me going. Yes, there were times when I felt tired or discouraged, but at the end of the day, the dream of taking my art to the next level motivated me, even when I was exhausted.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I consider myself really fortunate to reside in such a diverse place. My first stop would most likely be to show them historical landmarks that depict bygone civilizations, such as the “Basilica Cistern” (which also inspires me creatively). Then I’d take them to the wonderful “Prince Islands,” which I believe mystical, and where I may find calm and escape from everything. I’d treat them to some of our favorite street snacks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The road to success sees me surrounded by precious company: my beloved family, beloved friends, and revered inspiring artists. Each of them holds immense worth and their support and inspiration cannot be matched. While I shall not delve into their individual identities, their relevance to my growth and journey is of paramount importance. By forging connections with them and seeking their guidance on this path, their significance cannot be overstated. Truly, I am blessed to have them in my life. Inspiration is what I draw from these exceptional people who serve as my unwavering support.
