Meet Evelyn Tran | President of 200% K-Pop Dance Crew

We had the good fortune of connecting with Evelyn Tran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evelyn, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Performances are so much more than dancing on a stage. There are a lot of people working behind the scenes to make them successful – dancers practicing on top of their normal schedules as students, videographers capturing movements and emotions, lighting crew bringing the stage to life, and so much more.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
200PERCENT is an organization at the University of Texas at Dallas. The purpose of 200%, as a K-pop performance group, is to provide the students of UT Dallas with the opportunity to participate in learning and performing various K-pop dances. Our covers are filmed and uploaded onto our YouTube channel. 200% members also have the opportunity to, not only collaborate with other K-pop dance groups, but also perform at live events. Our mission is to provide a safe, comfortable community of shared interest and cultural diversity of UT Dallas and its students.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Triumphs is a jazz bar with cocktails and coffee, they have live music Thurs-Sat! Carrollton is great if you’re looking for Korean food and activities to do as well.
