We had the good fortune of connecting with Evalyne Fagan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evalyne, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Oh my goodness, what lessons have my business not taught me haha? I think the biggest lesson to be learned is perseverance is an absolute must when running a start-up business. There are so many trials, ups, and downs, and very low points where you just want to give up. I had to learn how to embrace challenges, navigate through them, and find alternative routes at times. I was finding that the virtual assistant world was costing me so much of my time and not enough of an ROI, so we made the transition towards a marketing agency instead. I found that much of our ROI was coming from our marketing efforts. As a business owner you can’t fear transition or even growth, you have to persist through challenges and grow daily.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We have recently transitioned into a marketing agency and focus on therapists, anti-diet dietitians, and all things healthcare. We want to help scale and grow these businesses by providing: web design and web development, search engine optimization (SEO), social media campaigns, email marketing campaigns, brand identity, branding and graphic design, marketing strategy, streamlining tasks, business coaching, and so much more. I think what really sets us apart is that we really try to be as cost-effective as possible and also adhere to our Christian roots. I am most proud of this because it is quite a challenge being a Christian business. I think the biggest struggle is having to draw the line with some topics or things that may have a gray area. As a Christian-based business, our images and work will be presented in a way that aligns with Christian beliefs and modesty, but will also provide informative, well-marketed, visually appealing content to elevate businesses.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh my goodness. I love all family-friendly things and love hitting up all the science museums, zoos, and aquariums around the DFW. The Arts District is always entertaining.

Food & Drinks:
If we are talking coffee my favorite places are 151 for a fast drive-thru and Black Rifle Coffee…I love chai tea as well!!! Breakfasts we absolutely love going to Devivo Brothers in Keller. Lunch and Dinner: I’m a big sushi and Indian food fan so my favorite sushi place is Sushi Sam’s in Southlake and the Maharaja Indian restaurant in Plano, TX.

Kid Activities:
Anything in grapevine is great for kid-friendly activities, especially Great Wolf Lodge and Grapevine Mills Mall, so many options there.

Free Activities:
If we are looking at playgrounds I am definitely going to Bicentennial Park in Southlake!

Kid-Free Activities:
If we were kid-free I would do as many escape rooms as we could afford!

I know that was all over the place!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Being a Christian organization is very important, and being open about our faith and what our boundaries are is what we pride ourselves at Elevate You, so our shared faith in God and what he has in store for us has been vital to our success. The people who most inspired me to start to begin with are my forever muse and biggest cheerleaders! In truth, I can’t say that there was one definitive answer as to why I started a business. In a previous interview, I mentioned that there were several factors that got me started. I started freelancing as a virtual assistant 5 years ago when my daughter was born. My family is incredibly important to me and I want to be an impactful presence for my children and husband. Running a business can be difficult for a family and they have always been there to support me through it all. My friends and both original and current “Elevators” (Elevate You team members) have been a great support, continuously encouraging and providing feedback.
