We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Stables and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, how do you think about risk?
I think risk is an important element not only in my personal life but also in my career. Taking risks has allowed me to challenge myself to do so many things I never imagined I would do! For example, I took a risk during the COVID shutdown in 2020 and began the process of buying my first home. It wasn’t something I had really given much thought to before that. The more time I took to research and read about the benefits of homeownership, I had my mind made up! I am grateful I took that risk and set my sights on a goal a little out of my comfort zone. The risk of starting my own business has made me more confident in my own ability to take on new projects and work hard to find solutions. With every risk there is hesitation, fear, excitement and anxiety but I feel that risk taking pushes me to be better than yesterday.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
HurrayTruck is unique because we serve both other small, local businesses AND the customer in need of home services. For instance, say you are in the process of purchasing a home. You love everything about your new house except for the front door. You can hire HurrayTruck to assist you with your move out of your previous residence and into your new one, cleaning your new place, and replacing your door! We work to find the most competitive prices and qualified professionals for all of those jobs so you don’t have to. This works both ways because we are also helping contractors get paid more competitively and get their name out there so they can focus on the job. We can also help you find pest control, regular cleaning services, painters, and really anything you can think of! I’m proud of my business and the changes we have made to be competitive. I think a lot of small businesses get caught in the trap of paying for leads (we did too), but I’m realizing that by building our network and turning our competitors into our partners, it’s a win-win. I’m excited to see how we grow in 2022!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
McKinney is a great area to visit for a weekend or a holiday! I would recommend dinner on the deck at Stix Icehouse off Eldorado where we could hang outside and play cornhole also. Saturday, the Farmer’s Market at Chestnut Square is a MUST! It’s a great way to start off your morning and there are many small businesses to check out. My absolute favorite is Rosemary Bakery– try the morning buns or almond croissants! I also love SoCo Ginger Beer. After strolling around the market, I like to head over to the square in the historic district to see what’s going on. There are a ton of cute boutiques and photo ops. Celebrating any holiday is a real treat in McKinney because the square always has an event happening. I’d recommend ending the day at Tupps Brewery for some drinks and live music.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My team and family for pushing me everyday and believing in me.
