We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Meskill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Yes I do actually! “Do things with passion, or not at all. Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” I think I was in high school when I first heard this quote and it just resonated with me. I’ve always been very passionate about things that I enjoy. I’m either all in and it’s all I can think about until it comes to life or it doesn’t happen at all. I like this quote because I can relate to it and it reminds me to focus on the things that matter and to follow my dreams.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I grew up dancing and as I got older I just thought it was something I would never be able to do again. Then I signed up for a pole class. At first I thought it was just for exercise but then I realized I could dance and choreograph routines. It quickly became my favorite creative outlet. However, as much as I love performing I love producing shows and watching all my hardwork come to life on stage even more. I love all the things that go on behind the scenes and giving my talented friends a place to share their art!

The pole community is like no other, the support is insane. As soon as my friends Holly, Kirstie and I decided we wanted to put on a show we had support right away. People actually wanted to be in and come to our shows! It took us a couple years to make a name for ourselves and gave me the confidence to work on my own and bring something new to life, that’s when the STL Pole Show was born.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned honestly is to not be so hard on myself, I recently had to reschedule a show due to issues with venues that were out of my control. I was so hard on myself. I felt like I was letting everyone down but everyone was so supportive and they just want to see me succeed. I learned to always trust my guy and do what feels right even if it means disappointing a few people along the way. The ones who support me will stick around no matter what.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s so much to do in St. Louis but depending on the season we would definitely go to a Cardinals or Blues game. We would have to go to the Zoo and the City Museum. Those are a must. I would also take them somewhere that I love walking around like Main Street St. Charles or the Delmar Loop. We would order Imo’s like the first night. I would also make sure they go to some of my favorite places like Cafe Mochi on South Grand, Mission Taco Joint, literally anywhere on Cherokee St. I also won’t let them leave until they’ve tried toasted ravioli and gooey butter cake. If there’s time and they are interested I would also take them to a pole class at Dahlia or the Michelle Mynx Academy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Squad, they know who they are and the whole St. Louis Pole Community.
