Meet Erin Hanrahan | Micro Bakery owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Hanrahan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, how do you think about risk?
Personally, I am not a risk taker. It was very hard for me to quit everything and go after my dreams of starting a bakery. I like stability and starting a business is not the most stable career. After lots of prayer and talking with my close family and friends, I decided to take the risk and begin my bakery. Without this leap of faith, my business would not be going today.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the owner of an organic, sourdough micro bakery. All my items in my bakery are focused on creating whole, natural foods that do not include ingredients that no one can pronounce. I strive for high quality taste and nutrients in all my bakes. I have always loved baking and dreamed about opening a bakery one day. This January, I decided to take the first steps to making that dream a reality. It was not easy to take that leap, but I knew it was Gods plan for my life and trusted that. I have learned a lot along the way but the main thing is patience. A business is not made overnight. It takes a lot of work, marketing, trials, and errors to grow a business. I am still growing but learning to be happy with where I am at in the present. I hope people enjoy what I make and it brings them just a little bit of joy in their day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a great question! There are so many things to do in the DFW, especially amazing places to eat! I would start the day by going to the local farmers market and getting some things for breakfast at home. I love sourcing ingredients from local markets. Form there, we would shop for a little at Half Price books warehouse location in Dallas. It has the largest selection of cheap books ever! There is also a great cafe inside called, La Casita. From there, I would show her around Highland Park because I love looking at all the houses down there. Then, we would go antiquing in Grapevine. There is a great Antique mall down there that has the most unique items! I would take her to dinner at Mio Nonno in Lakeside, they have the best pizza!! Then if we feel like we wanted to do something fun probably go dancing for a little at Electric Cowboy. If I wanna be out past 10pm lol.
That is such a small list of things to do. I had to limit myself to one day in DFW.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family deserves so much credit! Without their continual support, I would not be standing today. My parents encourage and provide me the space to chase my dreams, not to mention they always help me out with events. My older sister runs all my social media, thank goodness, and has done so much more in that field than I could ever have dreamed of, My brother is a photographer and takes all my photos. My little sister helps me in markets and wherever she can, Luckily, they all don’t mind helping in exchange for baked goods. I can also thank them for being my trusted panel of taste testers. They have always been there to encourage me and help me continue to grow my business! I would be lost with tout them!
