We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Leigh Nobles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erika Leigh, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
My success is defined when I am able to assist others and see them obtain what it is that they have set out to accomplish. I believe we should always pay it forward. Many of the opportunities I have been afforded is because of the push of someone else. Instead of paying that person back directly, I pass it on to another person instead. That is how i define success, lending a hand and watch them obtain success.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
With over 17 years’ experience in; Commercial Real Estate, Property Management (Residential), Contracts & Bids, Facility Maintenance, and Lease Administration. Based on my background I am able to analyze clients’ lease/legal documents for various size portfolios. As well as effectively build a professional rapport with the Broker, Tenant and Landlords. I have a strong work ethic demonstrated by building sound relationships and improving efficiencies through streamlining processes. Being a part of a MWBE Firm allowed me to serve on a team of three that won a 5 million-dollar facility maintenance contract with The Tarrant County College. I assisted with a multi-million-dollar, 6-year renewal contract for both Dallas and Fort Worth Veteran Affairs Hospitals. I received recognition for effective new account implantation and process on a 300+ location Commercial Real Estate Portfolio, two months in a row. In 2021, after being promoted to Senior Lease Analyst I was selected as the 1st African American Southwest Region Vice President of the Colliers Women’s Network, the director of Events for the Colliers Black Professionals, and Dallas Regional Chamber Young Professionals Advisory Council. I was nominated the 2022 Spirit of Colliers Award by my peers. During the pandemic I had the urgency to put legs to my EL Station vision. In July of 2021, I started my first Little Free Library. In 2023 I opened a 2nd location in Methodist Hospital, developing partnerships with the City of Dallas Recreation Department, The Dallas Public Library, Rick Smith with The Real Estate Book, and Todd Boi with The Little Free Library. In a short time, we have placed book in the hands of over 4000 people in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. In all of this my hope is to one day open a facility that will support the rehabilitation of homeless people.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh this is fun! So this has to be a food experience. So first stop we are headed to Fuel City Tacos! 2 tacos each with a cup of corn. We’ll sit in the shade and people watch for a few minutes while we get the car washed. Next stop we hit up Deep Ellum’s Bookstore to check out all of the next level local books. It’s a must to walk around deep ellum and check out more cute local shops and thrift stores. By this time it’s Dinner time and we go check out Smokey Johns BBQ on Mockingbird. I know what you’re thinking, we about to eat some BBQ, but NOPE, they have the best catfish baskets in the city! After we eat, we can drive to the AT&T Center and walk around the downtown area to do more people watching until our feet give out!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Over 15 years ago I was homeless, I was working a temp job at an apartment complex, getting myself together in the vacant apartments before work, so that no one knew I was homeless. It was one of the hardest times of my life, but I knew it was preparing for me something greater, something that I couldn’t see in that moment. Because of that journey I am able to mentor other young people and redirect them in a different direction. I also have a keen eye to see the potential in others. Three years into that journey I met Katrina King, she had no clue what I was experiencing but was able to see through my nonsense, see through my hurt, and see my potential. With her as my mentor she was able to guide me to a more stable place spiritually, professionally, and mentally. That opened so many doors of professional and personal development that I had never experienced or thought I was deserving of. With the support from my family and loved ones it has been the force behind the person that I am today. I also have to thank Michelle Needles for a year of professional development and Jennifer Woods for seeing something greater in me. On July 1st, 2023 I was promoted to Lease Administration Manager. I am grateful and excited about my journey ahead.
