We had the good fortune of connecting with erick oluoch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi erick, what do you attribute your success to?
Persistence,I believe in hard work and keeping at it means getting better. Everyday after work I do my practices and do more re-search on my craft. Whenever am not doing that am working on video and audio editing/production.I also teach so as to expand my team. Still under persistence, balancing between my daily job and my Dj career sometimes gets hard, I get at least 1 hour or 30 mins sometimes a day to practice and I make sure that I use that very well . I always pursue different audiences and different markets be it online or socially, I travel and do videos in Different cities to do self promotions which in the end attracts more online and physical business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Dj-ing is more than an art to me, I love mixing and doing mashups that make the crowd jump and the feedbacks are always the best. That feeling you get when someone tells you what you created is amazing and they’d like to hear more even like this opportunity of getting to be in an article this is amazing and I celebrate each and every win I get. I started of posting mixtapes on Mixcloud and facebook live and eventually into instagram videos, then I started getting bookings in Dallas and stretched from club to weddings and house parties. Challenges that I face are mostly ego centered for example when I go to an event and the Dj over there says am young and need to relax since I still have time to come back to the industry but my vision is different and I don’t let nothing stop me. All the way I’ve learned that patients is very important things take time especially when in comes to being your own boss. My brand is about promoting young and unknown artists and eventually produce and direct music audio & videos.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like chilling in downtown FortWorth for drinks and food, Sometimes I do like just chilling on the water so probably do a boat party especially if it’s in the summer time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s a lot of Dj’s I’d like to thank for inspiration and also their hard work, Kg the Dj from Tanzania, an amazing and multi talented young Dj. Dj Roy tee boy from Kenya, I used watch his youtube videos. Most definite Dj puffy from Barbados, his energy and his charisma is phenomenal both from his live and radio plays.
