Meet Erica Murphy | Interior Decorator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Murphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erica, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Never give up! When you start a passion project, a business, or take the steps to pursue your dreams, there will be challenges. In today’s society or social media culture, it can look like chasing dreams is an easy-going or linear process. But, the truth is, it is a series of highs and lows, things that work and things that don’t work, things that make sense and things that don’t. What I have learned is to let go of the outcome and just create. How to keep going? Always remember why you started in the first place. It is okay to pause and reevaluate your strategy and pivot, just never stop. If you have to revisit your mission and regroup, that is okay! You would not be starting over, you would be starting from experience. If you give up now, you would have to live with the wonder of regret, or the ‘what if I would’ve kept going?”. Going after your dreams and stepping into the unknown is hard. You will face obstacles, and when there is a calling on your life, your business, your creativity, your ideas, there will most definitely be tests and trials that can sometimes make you feel like giving up, but don’t give up. Personally, when I am faced with this challenge, I remember my faith in God, one of my favorite bible verses comes from Isaiah 40:31 – “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.” In other words, do not give up! I will not give up and you shouldn’t either! No matter what, always keep going.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love music, cinema, games, food and art! I would suggest checking out the Rooftop Cinema Club in Downtown Ft Worth, it’s fun way to experience watching a movie, in an open-air space with food of course! My favorite genre of music is R&B so I love going to local concerts or either R&B events Sundays at Lava Cantina in The Colony, an outdoor event with food, music and good vibes! I’m always up for a game night, you’d have to try Urban Trivia at Legacy West. I love trying out new Brunch or Happy Hour spots in the area, one of my faves are Local Tap and Table for Brunch and Del Frisco’s Grille for Happy Hour!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to my two closest friends Shelby and Noel. They have both always encouraged me, given me ideas, listened to me vent, but most importantly, they have always prayed over me and with me — even when I didn’t have the strength or words to pray for myself. They are always so supportive, always sharing resources and putting my name in rooms I’m not in yet. They want to see me win as much as I do. I appreciate them more than I could ever express to them, but I know both of them were meant to be in my life at this very moment in my journey. I dedicate this to you both, — I am so grateful for your friendship/sisterhood and your unwavering support, I love ya’ll so much!
