We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I never intended to start a business. Being a kindergarten teacher for ten years was my career, being a mom was my life. I originally started Project Mommy Tribe as Facebook community to connect moms to one another as well as resources. I began the Facebook group in 2017 after my twins were born.

In October 2020, I resigned from teaching and decided to become a stay-at-home mom to my four children. During that time, as I connected with more women in my Project Mommy Tribe group, and I began thinking about blogging.

I started my blog, www.projectmommytribe.com, in January 2022. From there I began my Project Mommy Tribe Instagram page. With the encouragement and support from my community, blogging turned into content creating and influencing,

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My social media intentionally combines my ability to entertain, educate, and inspire other moms. My content is designed to capture the realistic aspects of motherhood through humor and relatable reminders and suggestions.

The Project Mommy Tribe audience is comprised of stay-at-home and working moms that share the same love I have for exposing their kids to hands on experiences. I often suggest new products and places to visit, and helpful ways to do them through my posts.

I am not an expert on all thing’s motherhood, but I have the experience of being a stepmom, boy mom, girl mom, twin mom, working mom, and now stay-at-home mom. I feel this gives me unique insight on many situations.

My content is very authentic and organic. I strive to be relatable to moms and validate their feelings by reminding them that they are not alone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start out at my favorite brunch spot, Coffee House Cafe! They have a signature French toast sandwich, seasoned house potatoes and my favorite drink tequila sunrise mimosas!

After brunch, we would go to Grandscape in The Colony and walk around a bit, maybe see a movie at the Galaxy theatre there. Whenever we go there, we always have lunch at Walk-ons!

I would take her to Kings Spa for a bestie day! Then dinner at Pangeas!

Some of my other favorite places are the Boardwalk at Granite Park in Plano, Lava Cantina in the Colony, AT&T stadium because we are a huge football family!

We would also do a wine tasting tour in Grapevine. You also can’t come visit the area without checking out the Stock Yards in Fort Worth!

Another of my favorite brunch places is Another Broken Egg!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to first recognize my husband of almost 9 years Anthony. Not only is he my biggest supporter mentally, spiritually and emotionally but has allowed me to focus on my brand. Having a family of 6 and going from two incomes to one is not easy. He has never made me feel like I should put my business on hold for any reason. He has simply worked harder at work, as well as at home to give me all the support I need.

My parents, Nathan and Lori Love have instilled everything in me that I need to have the confidence, and direction to pursue this new journey in my life. I am thankful for their constant guidance, encouragement, and support.

My sisters Ebony and Eleigha have been so supportive! Whether promoting Project Mommy Tribe or helping out with my kids, or buying products from my ETSY page, I couldn’t have started this without either of them.

My best friend since childhood Aysha Marchetti is my biggest fan and motivator. She pushes me when no one else can. She was the first member of Project Mommy Tribe, Godmother to all of our children, and the person who will NEVER let me quit.

Pastor Tonya, my spiritual advisor, mentor, counselor, encourager. Words really can’t describe who she is to me, but I want to dedicate this shout out to her. Her book Woman on the Move was what truly lead me to start this journey, and I am so grateful to have the author as my mentor.
