We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Originally from Memphis, Tn, my upbringing was nothing short of amazing. Being a military child, I come from a very structured background. Traveling and living all over the world had a lifelong impact on who I am today. Moving every three years put me in a position to adapt and quick! Just adapting to my environment alloted the opportunity for me to be well rounded and very diverse at a very young age, making me skilled in communicating and networking. Today, all of those characteristics have allowed me to open doors not only for my personal life but business as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being in the pharmaceutical field, you’re faced with daily challenges as with any career field. Even though I love what I do, I still felt something was missing as I wanted something of my own and that I could build and grow and that was She Strutz Shoetique. Therefore, I’m ecstatic to see where my brand goes and its continued growth. There are times I reflect back to when I first launched to where I’m at now and it’s truly the small victories for me. As we all know, learning is revolutionary and when establishing a brand from the ground up, it takes patience, consistency and dedication, but most importantly knowing that nothing comes easy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely kick it off at The Potters House and then brunch at Soiree Coffee Shop. For entertainment we would visit Nylo Soda Bar, Scat Cat Jazz Lounge, Sandaga 813,Vinettis, The Freeman and XOXO Dining Room are just a few. As for dinner, spots that would be a must are DJs Steakhouse, Eddie V’s and Pappadeaux for starters. To end the trip we would do some shopping, tour the city and catch us a poetry night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has been and still are my biggest supporters and motivation, especially my son Denim. When there’s a delivery order in Memphis, most likely it’s my parents who pack and deliver. There’s never any hesitation with them, they are a part of She Strutz, so major shout out to them because without them I wouldn’t be able to deliver a seamless consistent experience with certain options I offer with She Strutz Shoetique. I always say I’m the face of She Strutz but when it comes to the behind the scenes, my team steps and I couldn’t be more grateful for them!
