We had the good fortune of connecting with Empress Hyder and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Empress, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Being a two-time preemie mom has been both a journey of immense challenge and profound growth. My experience in the NICU with my children was a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with uncertainty, fear, and hope. Through it all, I found myself deeply empathizing with other NICU parents facing similar struggles.
The decision to start a business advocating for NICU parents stemmed from a deeply personal place within me. As I navigated through the ups and downs of my own journey, I realized there was a glaring gap in resources and support for parents like myself. The overwhelming nature of the NICU experience often left families feeling isolated and uninformed, with little guidance on how to cope with the unique challenges they were facing.
My thought process in starting this business was driven by a desire to change that narrative. I wanted to create a platform where NICU parents could find solace, support, and practical resources to help them navigate their own journeys with greater ease. Drawing from my own experiences, I knew firsthand the importance of having a community to lean on during such trying times.
In envisioning this business, I meticulously mapped out the various pain points I encountered during my time in the NICU. From there, I brainstormed innovative solutions and services that could address these challenges head-on. Whether it was providing emotional support through online forums and peer mentoring programs or offering practical resources such as educational materials and care packages, every aspect of the business was designed with the needs of NICU parents in mind.
Additionally, I made it a priority to collaborate with healthcare professionals and experts in the field to ensure that the resources and support offered by my business were comprehensive and evidence-based. By leveraging both my personal experience and insights from professionals, I aimed to create a holistic support system that could truly make a difference in the lives of NICU families.
Ultimately, my decision to start this business was fueled by a deep sense of purpose and a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others. While the journey has been challenging at times, seeing the profound difference our advocacy and support have made in the lives of NICU parents has been incredibly rewarding. Moving forward, I remain dedicated to expanding our reach and continuing to advocate tirelessly on behalf of NICU families everywhere.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
“My career journey has been one defined by resilience, determination, and a relentless pursuit of growth. Eight years ago, I embarked on a career path as a Senior Credentialing Specialist, despite lacking any prior experience in the field. It was a leap of faith, driven by my innate desire to challenge myself and carve out a meaningful career path for myself.
As a two-time preemie and an active employee, I bring a unique perspective to my role—one that is shaped by firsthand experience with adversity and a deep understanding of the complexities of navigating life’s challenges. This journey has instilled in me a level of empathy, resilience, and determination that sets me apart from others. I’ve learned to adapt quickly to new situations, think creatively to find solutions, and advocate fiercely for what I believe in.
What sets me apart professionally is not just my expertise in credentialing, but also my unwavering commitment to supporting and uplifting others. I am most proud of the resilience that this journey has provided me—the ability to overcome obstacles with grace and perseverance, and to emerge stronger on the other side.
I am particularly excited about the opportunity to support other NICU parents who may be embarking on a similar journey. Having walked in their shoes, I understand the unique challenges they face and the importance of having a supportive community to lean on during such trying times. My goal is to offer guidance, empathy, and practical support to help them navigate their own paths with greater ease and confidence.
Getting to where I am today has been anything but easy. It required a willingness to step out of my comfort zone, embrace change, and advocate for myself in the face of adversity. It took flexibility, compromise, and the courage to ask for what I deserve. Along the way, I’ve learned invaluable lessons about the power of resilience, the importance of perseverance, and the transformative impact of community support.
As I reflect on my journey, I want the world to know that my story is one of hope, resilience, and unwavering determination. It’s a testament to the power of the human spirit to overcome obstacles and emerge stronger on the other side. My brand is built on the principles of empathy, support, and empowerment, and I am committed to using my platform to uplift others and make a positive impact in the world.”
