We had the good fortune of connecting with Emmanuel Onochie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emmanuel, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success so far that I believe will keep me ahead is my determination, persistence & my love for music & the life I want to live. If you don’t have determination or the will to keep trying you won’t make it far in the area you want to succeed in.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a DJ from Houston,Tx. I started when I was 13 back in 2009-10. I started doing my school dances, my football games and church events and as I got older I went to college and began DJing all the parties, sometimes 7 days a week. I eventually graduated towards clubs and in 2018 I moved to Atlanta for the summer & I became a DJ for YRN(Young Rich Ni**as the Migos label). I did that for about a year and some change until I was ready to come back home and put in the work I needed to get to where I wanted to go. I had been a fan of Sauce Walka since the beginning literally and I always wanted to be his DJ but at the time he had one. Late 2019 I met up with him at a pop up shop and told him I wanted to be his DJ and we’ve been locked in since. As a DJ I do any and all events. I eventually plan on becoming a producer/DJ for big artists kind of like DJ Khaled & DJ Drama but I also want to eventually do big shows like Marshmellow & Steve Aioki. It’s not hard being a DJ it took years of evictions, sleepless nights & fake people but as long as you keep a clear mind & know your end goal, you will always win.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from Houston but I love Dallas club scene. If I was planning a weekend in Dallas on Friday we going to XTC or 5AM, Saturday we going to S & S then back the the strip club and on Sunday we outside all day but we for sure ending it at Theory. I would tell people to either go eat at Rudy’s or Henderson’s Chicken. I get a 10 piece wing ever since time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents deserve a lot of credit & thanks because when I started they were behind me 100% and still till this day. They bought my first couple of set ups and anytime I need motivation or think about giving up they get me where I need to be.
