Meet Emma Edwards | Musician, Educator, and Houseplant Enthusiast.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emma, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Gemini Plant Co. was conceived out of sheer necessity- the amount of plants that I had was more than I was able to take care of! I was already staging my plants and propagations around my home in vintage containers like Tupperware or colored glass, so the idea to style the pants had already taken hold for me. To reduce the size of my collection, I first started gifting them to friends who would then buy more plants off of me for housewarming parties and holiday presents. I made the transition to selling on Facebook Marketplace and at yard sales before to setting up shop out of the trunk of my car at local creative reuse markets in Austin. When I moved to DFW in 2023, it only made sense to transition into a more formal business structure!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Gemini Plant Co. remains a creative project at its core! For me, sharing houseplants with others is a way to connect with my community, educate , and empower others in their personal plant journey. Moreover, it’s also a way for me to express my love of vintage and secondhand style! I love getting to meet people from all around the metroplex while doing markets, especially! Another one of my favorite parts of running Gemini Plant Co. is teaching community classes. I teach intro to houseplant care classes, propagation classes, and potting classes for both children and adults. Truly, everybody has what it takes to be a plant parent!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’ve never been to DFW, you obviously have to check out the Denton square!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a special shoutout to The Enchanted Shop in Old Town Lewisville! I’ve been working with the owners, Madeline and John, and their families for the last several years and they are truly wonderful people! The shop features tons of local artists, makers, and vintage selections and has the sweetest tea room in the back. You can occasionally find me tending to the flower beds out front- be sure to swing by the next time you’re in the area!
