We had the good fortune of connecting with Elyse Stoltz Dickerson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elyse, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I often associate risk with fear. We have a fear of failure, what other people think about us, and the unknown. All these normal fears hold us back from taking certain risks. The only way to find out what you’re capable of is actually taking the leap. Every time we push ourselves into something that’s a little hard or a little scary, we see what we’re able to accomplish. For me, I think early in my life I would take risks where I was pretty certain I would achieve it. They were low-risk risks, and there wasn’t a whole lot to lose. With each one, I gained more confidence and less fear. I went from speaking up in a meeting to asking for a promotion and interviewing for a new job. With growth, and as time went on in my career, the risks I was willing to take were much bigger and had much graver consequences. The downside was a lot worse, but the upside was a lot better. However, to truly unleash your potential, you have to get comfortable with taking risks. Surrounding yourself with people that believe in you to reinforce or encourage you, helps you be able to take a risk with greater consequences and a better pay-off. So, although fear is a part of risks, so are rewards. At the end of the day, it’s always a learning opportunity, and the more you face your fears, the braver you will become.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Eosera, we put people before profit, always. Our points of differentiation are that we have a full line of ear care products for a list of ear care needs and our EARWAX MD product is proven effective against the leading earwax removal treatment in a clinical trial. When we started our business, we spoke to as many doctors in the field as we could to understand what unmet need was present in the market. We created products to meet those needs. We are most proud of the way we uphold our values as a company (positivity, people, growth, collaboration, passion, bravery, empowerment) and the rate in which we’ve grown into a multi-million-dollar company in just a few short years. My business partner and I decided to start our business after leaving big pharma– the way they do business just isn’t our style. We put people at the center of our company. That means that all stakeholders, customers, employees, investors, doctors, retailers, and distributors are what we’re thinking about when we make decisions, big or small. It wasn’t easy to start a business from scratch, but now we have a team of incredible people running the show every day. Learning how to manufacture all products in-house was no easy feat, but from interviewing people we knew to just learning it the hard way, we figured out how to bring everything in-house, create local jobs, and boost the economy. Along the way, we learned that the team you surround yourself with and the culture you cultivate is as important as the sales you make. We also learned that you can’t do it alone. Asking for help is okay, and it’s necessary. Our brand and our story are one of comfort. We hope to help those we reach with our products and give them relief. We also know that we can have fun along the way. Connecting through innocent humor and honesty is what we like to do. Eosera is growing, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was coming to town, I would have a day or two dedicated to seeing all the great art in Fort Worth and Dallas. I would visit the Kimball and the Fort Worth Modern. Then, drive to Dallas and see the Nasher. We would love to have lunch at Righteous Foods. Next, we would visit cowtown. We would have them fitted for boots. We’d eat at Joe T’s and get BBQ and Heim. Hopefully, catch a rodeo. We’d have fun exploring the north side and showing them Billy Bob’s. After that, we’d go to Dallas to North Park and do some shopping. We’d see the Kennedy Museum and eat at Green Papaya. We’d also give them a tour of our office and facility in Fort Worth. The next day, we would go cycling and/or running on the Trinity River and have lunch at Press Cafe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
2020 has been a hard year for so many companies, and Eosera is not excluded. But the team rose up and banded together through a trying time. We held on to our values, respected each other, and buckled down to make sure we would get through whatever was thrown our way. Our team truly deserves a shoutout for being something constant and reassuring in a world full of ups and downs.
