We had the good fortune of connecting with Ella Parlor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ella, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
I reject the idea that you have to choose between a successful career and a joyful life! Are you really successful if you’re not happy at home? Too often, I hear stories of people hating their jobs in total secrecy or feeling unfulfilled because they’ve neglected their personal passions. I refuse to buy into that narrative. You can design a life where our work fuels is both fulfilling and financially successful. Being happy in your work makes you a better leader, friend, spouse, member of the community.

I believe it’s time we reject the notion that I have to choose between a fulfilling career or a happy personal life. You can have both!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My career story is so unusual it became a best selling book. “High Tolerance” serves an overview of my career working for Fortune 500 and startup brands, driving over a billion dollars in revenue for global brands.

I founded EP Consulting with a vision to inspire people to find both fulfillment and success in their careers or businesses. Understanding that nearly half of your life is spent at work, I firmly believe that this significant part of your life should be more than just rewarding; it should be enriching and enjoyable. This conviction drove me to create a consulting platform where I could make a tangible difference in people’s professional journey.

At EP Consulting I use my background to equip clients with the right tools, strategies, and understanding, I aim to enable you to make informed decisions and be proactive.

Ultimately, my goal through EP Consulting and “High Tolerance” is to create a world where work is not just a means to an end, but a source of personal growth and happiness for you. I strive to inspire you to not only excel in your career but to also love the journey you’re on.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you were visiting me in Dallas, I’d start by taking you on a sunset stroll across the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. The skyline views are incredible! Then, we’d explore the Bishop Arts District – it’s got such a cool, artsy vibe. Maybe grab a drink at The Wild Detectives bookstore.

From there, let’s hit up Knox-Henderson for amazing food – deviled eggs at Mayer’s Garden, pizza at Sfuzzi, maybe espresso martinis at Dalat. We have to finish with iconic tacos at El Come! This city’s food scene is unreal.

Dallas is a blast, I love it here so much!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Reflecting on my book “High Tolerance,” one regret stands out: not shedding light on the incredible individuals who have been my pillars in my personal life, enabling me to excel professionally. Yes, my amazing family has been instrumental, but I want to give a special shoutout to special group of friends from my time at Rosary Academy, Chapman University, Kappa Alpha Theta, and working at Red Bull. These networks serve as a powerful reminder that when you show up as your best self, you attract equally amazing people around you, those who not only elevate but also challenge you. Their presence in my life has been a game changer, and forever serve as my North Star within my work and business.
