Meet Dusty Pressley | Hair Stylist & Salon Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dusty Pressley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dusty, how does your business help the community?
The Haus of Wicked is committed and founded on the idea that everyone has the right to be themselves. That could mean having rainbow hair, or that could mean having a stylist who listens to you and finally give you the Gender Affirming haircut you never got anywhere else. As someone who has a quite a few trans and non binary clients I have heard stories of other salons who refuse to give them what they want because “it doest align with me/it doesnt feel right to do”. My salon has always been and always will be a SAFE SPACE! Also I love to support others in my life. For example, I have a wall in my salon dedicated to a local artist to get her art out there and seen. @JavainkStudios on Instagram,…. look her up! You won’t regret it!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Haus of Wicked is unique and interesting as not only a business but an experience. I wanted to create a place that people could come and literally be transported away from the human world problems. Inspired by Disney Villains and all things Wicked and mystical, the moment you step into my salon you are no longer bound by the problems of the world. This is a space to be crazy, wild, wicked, and just be yourself! I love that when my clients step into the salon, I just see their shoulders relax and the sparkle come back into their eyes.
Staring this business was not easy… because it wasn’t even a thought in my mind when it happened. It was a total accident. I wanted to just work in a salon and get my paycheck. Next thing I know I am running my own business. The sleepless nights, the tight money issues, and moving from Mansfield, to Fort Worth was hard. Moving from Fort Worth to Dallas was an easy choice but a hard process. Finding the right area in Dallas to make my mark when there are salons on every corner was hard but it’s happening. Deep Ellum is the home base and we can only expand from here.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I live in the Dallas Gayborhood so first of all, we hitting up Roy G’s for dinner then running across the street to my favorite bar, The Round Up Saloon to dance the night away!!
I must admit I don’t usually have a ton of free time between the business and sleep, so I guess that means we getting in the car and driving around. I Love love loveeeeee driving around and just letting the roads tell me where I am going.
When in doubt, shopping is always a good thing to do! Off to Northpark Center we go!! Did someone say VERSACE?!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well I would first and foremost like to thank every single person who supports me and my business. If you have referred friends/family to me, sat in my chair, gotten product from me instead of stores, etc. Then this is for you and I thank you!!
Also I want to shout out my younger self… We did it Dusty!!!!
