We had the good fortune of connecting with Drew Brenner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Drew, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success can be summed up in one word: Trust. While this may sound like a basic quality, home buying is an industry plagued by lenders that don’t close on time or incorrectly preapprove clients resulting in their loans being denied. Clients and realtors having trust that not only will a client get fully approved once I preapprove them, but also trusting that I will close the loan on time is paramount not only to a great client experience and repeat business for me and the realtor, but also an increased likelihood of an offer we place being accepted by a seller.

What should our readers know about your business?
Unlike the majority of lenders out there, I’ve been born and bred mortgages. My father owned a small mortgage company in Edmond, OK, where I am from, and it was one of the few mortgage companies that didn’t have to shut its doors after the 2008 collapse (which is the year I started full time at his company!) I helped my father with his business from a young age and even worked there during my college summers before I got my Industrial Engineering degree. I decided I wanted to pursue mortgages instead and learned from him how to do business the right way to give clients and realtors the best possible mortgages experience so I can become their “Lender for Life”

Fast forward to 2022, with the skills taught to me by my father, and I am at the top of my industry. I was number 1 in my company in 2021, beating seasoned vets with twice my time originating loans. I have earned the “Best Mortgage Professional” award from D-Magazine and the 5 Star Professional Award from Texas Monthly both since 2016, all because of the 5 star experience I give my clients. I make mortgages as stress free as a mortgage can possibly be!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dallas has some of the best restaurants in the US. You can find any flavor or craving and we have an eclectic bunch of restaurants we like to visit. Though our primary love is Tex-Mex!

We would start by driving down to Maple Street near down town to hit up our very favorite Mexican restaurant called Avila’s. It is a little hole in the wall place but everything there is top notch and amazing.

Carrollton, where I live, has a large Asian district with a slew of great restaurants. We enjoy Thai food from Too Thai or Chili Thai, savory dumplings from MuLan Noodle, or one of the various Hot Pot joints. Once we’re finished eating our Thai food we would then go over to Silk Thai Massage for a top of the line 90 minute massage.

We would end the tour at Dee Lincoln Prime steak house up at The Star. This place is pricey but the quality of the food, drinks, and service is beyond excellent.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is no one in my life that deserves more recognition for helping to make my business possible than my wife, Cayla Nail. She gives me reason to push past the hard times and has never waivered in her commitment to me despite inconvenient and exhaustive long hours and all the stress this industry puts on us. She has planned events, made amazing food to take to clients and realtors, and always helps with great ideas on ways to improve my brand. I wouldn’t be even close to where I am now without her love and support.
