We had the good fortune of connecting with DREW $AVAGE and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DREW, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Hello everyone! I am from Arlington, Texas, but if you’re from Texas you know the DFW really stands together. I was born in Fort Worth, and Southern Methodist University (SMU) is one of my Alma Maters, so I feel connected to my entire metroplex! My immediate family is very close, and we all live within 15 minutes of each other so spending time together is always a priority. That really influenced my core values and makes me appreciate the love and happiness that comes from me being an artist that much more! We always find ways to support each other, so I carry that with me in each relationship/friendship that I have.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art stands in a league of its own, such as I do. It’s important for me to be critically true to myself in my music, so that it remains solely mine. Writing has always been therapeutic to me, even as a kid I remember reading books and consuming as much information as I could, then creating my own stories. My introduction to creating my own music came just two years ago when I met my producer/partner in life, QLA. Being an extremely talented artist himself, he gave me an opportunity to write to a beat, and I seized it. Never looked back…

Nothing about this journey has been necessarily easy, but I have learned the importance in finding the joy in every chapter! Building your own brand, no matter the industry, requires an enormous amount of support. You learn quickly that everyone doesn’t offer that support without a little incentive, most of the time. Weed out those around you who don’t support you, simple. Especially if you yourself make it a priority to be supportive in your relationships. It’s important to stay persistent, and nurture a team of people who you can grow and succeed with!

I want the world to know that DREW $AVAGE, the entire brand, stands for community, love, Women, fun, culture, family, independence, and most of all people. All of the most amazing parts of each of us is found in my music and my brand, that is what I stand for.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love finding the most exclusive spots in the DFW to hangout and grab some great food! I have an entire list of places, but I can’t give away all the goods, follow me on Instagram (@itsdrewsavage) for the inside scoop…I will say the West 7th area in Fort Worth is home to some great bars to hop around on the weekend. There’s Downtown Arlington which is on the come up with a lot of restaurants and bars! Depending on your mood, you can google the area and go anywhere that sounds good!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my father, Darryll. My entire life he has been the ultimate provider for my family, and not just financially, but also in a sense of love, positive discipline, support, knowledge, and guidance. Just to name a few. I’ll always love you, xoxo. My mother, Sandra, who is a survivor in all of her essence, and the epitome of what it means to be a strong, independent woman. Lastly, QLA, without you I may of never discovered my passion, here’s to discovering the best parts of life together!
