Meet Dr. Jose Quesada | Owner of Benbrook Music Academy

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Jose Quesada and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Jose, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I don’t believe in taking risks in the traditional sense. Instead, I believe in assuming responsibility. For me, it’s about owning the outcomes of my decisions—good or bad—and working toward solutions if things don’t go as planned. For example, if I invest $100 in something and lose it all, I take full responsibility for that outcome and focus on how to recover and grow from the experience.
That said, I wasn’t always this way. I used to prioritize security above all else. I stayed in workplaces that weren’t the best fit for me because they felt safe. Breaking that cycle took courage, education, and a strong community to support me. Now, I focus on making informed, thoughtful decisions, knowing that personal growth often comes from embracing responsibility and facing challenges head-on.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Benbrook Music Academy, we’re more than just a music school—we’re a community focused on enriching lives through music and building meaningful connections. Every student, teacher, and staff member is treated as part of the family, and their growth is celebrated. What sets us apart is our commitment to creating a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and inspired.
I got here by embracing my vocational calling, making hard choices, and assuming responsibility. It hasn’t been easy, but resilience, passion, and faith have kept me moving forward, no matter the challenges.
One important lesson I’ve learned is that business ownership isn’t for everyone. While many are drawn to the benefits of owning a business, the reality is that it requires immense work, sacrifice, and resilience. Business ownership is a 24/7 commitment that demands dedication and the right support from family, mentors, and peers.
What I want the world to know about Benbrook Music Academy is that our impact goes beyond us. This is not about us—it’s about enriching lives through music. It’s about families gathering for recitals or singing Christmas carols together, people joining worship teams, or simply enjoying music with their loved ones. It’s about supporting our teachers and staff and positively impacting our city with our services. Our story is one of faith, resilience, and a deep love for music and people.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d start right here in Benbrook. It’s a beautiful city, and I’d take them to Dutch Branch Park and around Benbrook Lake—just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and maybe take a walk by the water. After that, we’d grab some good food at Cracker Barrel, it’s my favorite place for a warm, comforting meal.
Next, we’d head into Fort Worth to see some of the best parts of the city. We’d start in Sundance Square to experience the heart of the city and walk around. Then, we’d go to the Stockyards for some Western fun—watch the cattle drive and explore the local shops.
We couldn’t miss the Cultural District, so I’d take them to visit the Kimbell Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum. If it’s the right night, we’d catch a performance at Bass Performance Hall—whether it’s the symphony or a Broadway show.
For sports fans, I’d take them over to Amon Carter Stadium to watch the Horned Frogs play—hopefully, we’ll get to see them win! If we want to catch the Cowboys or the Rangers, we’d head to AT&T Stadium or Globe Life Park.
If there’s time, I’d also take them to Dallas for a day trip—maybe even swing by Granbury for a change of pace. And if we’re up for an adventure, a road trip to Austin and the Hill Country is always a great idea.
When it comes to food, we’ll definitely hit up some Texas BBQ, check out a good steakhouse, and enjoy some authentic Tex-Mex. You can’t visit Texas without trying it. We’ll also have to stop by Old South Pancake House for some Dutch babies. And of course, we’ll end the trip with a slice of pecan pie and Blue Bell ice cream for a sweet treat to top it off.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to several key people and groups who have been instrumental in my journey:
First, the members, teachers, and support staff of MASS (Music Academy Success System). They have provided me with the education, community, and mentorship I need to grow and thrive.
Second, my family—my spouse and children—who support me with their love, care, and patience as we navigate the current season together.
Third, my pastors and accountability partners, both at Movement City Church and in the Good Morning Benbrook group through the Benbrook Area Chamber of Commerce. Their accountability keeps me in check and helps me stay grounded.
Above all, I want to thank God, who guides me, gives me the ability to work and create wealth. Through His guidance, I am able to work and pursue goals with honesty and integrity. Each of these influences has played an important role in shaping my journey and success.
