We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Demetris Elia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Demetris, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
At the start of my career, I was able to work in a functional neurology office. This was the moment; I saw individualized patient care at the highest level we are able to provide. We were given ample time to properly evaluate the patient, take x-rays and order labs if needed, and then adjust them accordingly to provide optimal health. I wanted to emulate the compassion, and diligent individualized care that I saw in this practice. Shortly after, I decided that I wanted to start my own practice. I originally thought that out of school, I’d work a few years first, but the pandemic jump started this opportunity. I’d been involved in many Chiropractic Facebook groups online and was interested in the mobile chiropractic model of business. After some research, I found that mobile chiropractic was a needed and underserved service in the Dallas and Ft. Worth areas.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a mobile Chiropractor, services are brought to the patient in the comfort of their home or business. We are also able to provide mobile massage! During the patient’s visit we complete a detailed comprehensive exam, send the patient for labs or x-rays if needed, and make adjustments to the spine for optimal health. Getting to where I am today has been a tough but rewarding road. Opening during the pandemic made for a slow start because most people didn’t want others coming into their homes, and businesses had people working from home. Gradually more and more people felt comfortable having me in their homes with proper COVID-19 precautions, and businesses are starting to bring employees back into the office. It feels great to be my own boss with a flexible schedule, but many hours of sweat equity went into building it. There were many times I thought, “am I doing the right things? Is this the right business choice?” AND in the end it was, but I wouldn’t have come this far without the support of family and friends who provided guidance, knowledge, and encouragement. I’ve learned a lot about building a business along the way, it is exciting, and I’m still learning every day. When you own your own business you don’t stop thinking about what you can do better next time, what you can improve upon, or your next goal. The business becomes a part of every day life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite spots is The Dallas Arboretum, My wife and I enjoy the gardens, and festivities that they offer such as live music, sculpture collections, food tastings, and holiday entertainment. Across from the Arboretum is Smoky Rose, a great place for food and a relaxing patio to enjoy during nice weather. Another great spot is White Rock Lake; one can bring their bike for a nice ride, rent kayaks, picnic, or simply walk or jog for exercise. We recently enjoyed the Museum of Illusions Dallas that includes many interactive pieces, mind tweezers, and games. I’ve also enjoyed rock climbing and made attempts at bouldering at Summit Climbing, Yoga, and Fitness. For those who love Mexican food, I would highly suggest eating at Marianos Hacienda Ranch on Skillman in Dallas, and for those who have an appetite for Italian food, I would suggest Prego Pasta House on Greenville Avenue Dallas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to recognize my family for encouraging me to continue in my studies, that eventually lead me, to complete my degree in Chiropractic. I’d also like to thank all my hammer throwing coaches and track teammates throughout the years who taught me the meaning of team, the strength to carry on during tough times, and for being family to me when I was so far away from home.
