We had the good fortune of connecting with DOS MEDIA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DOS, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Trust and financial management. We partnered up three years ago having met in university not knowing how proficient the other person was in terms of work diligence. We’ve however learnt to trust each other knowing even when we are on separate assignments each one of us will represent our brand well and deliver the best quality. Now the financial aspect, simply put , a business is a business. Having your records straight, keeping your books updated and thoroughly researching before making an investment is the rule of thumb when getting into business. Mismanagement of funds has led to numerous businesses failing.
 

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a media production company that renders videography, photography , film , graphic design among many other services. What sets us apart from other similar businesses is client relation. We do not just come on set do the work deliver and get paid. As much as business is a transaction we try to put that fact a side for a bit, interact with our clients as if they were our mates. In this way we can get the client more comfortable, this way they can plainly and more elaborately tell us what they want. It’s definitely a hack for customer satisfaction. It’s probably a common answer but what we are most proud of is our growth. We had beginners luck which for minute had us scared that we are going to be one hit wonders( business wise). However we’ve progressively grown not only in skill and equipment but also emotionally. A business partnership is like any other partnership you need a level of emotional intelligence to be able to work with each other smoothly.
Getting to where we are today was fairly easy, like I mentioned before we had beginners luck. We got clients almost immediately after buying our professional equipment. The challenge that we had was starting out that is before we decided we are going to do it professionally. Building the skill, coming up with capital and market research I would say were the hardest thing to do but once we were ready we have never looked back. How we overcame the challenges is by allowing enough time in to whatever it was we were doing before. Good things take time and I believe we are a testimony of that saying.
The major lessons that we’ve learnt is that there is nothing like overnight success. Most youths get into business aspiring to be millionaires within a month or so and I was not any different when I started out. Good things take time and my advice to anyone starting out is not to feed on delayed gratification rather put in the work.
What we want the world to know about our brand is the human aspect behind it, the individuals who have worked to create it. We do not want just a brand we want people to resonate with us

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is from our most recent trip. Not in the city Take a train to Mtito Andei then a cab to Ngulia Safari lodge. Its located inside Tsavo, a national park. Everything form the views the safaris is just amazing. Spend like 2-3 days there I promise its worth it.
Next stop Mombasa for the ultimate food tour. Book into a hotel and start exploring the town’s street food. I could take for days about it but I do not want to spoil the experience for you.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our parents, they have forever been supportive from when the idea was being conceptualized up to now. They are obviously more experienced than us in the business realm so we can say they have been both our mentors and advisors in this journey.
