We had the good fortune of connecting with Donna Hays and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Donna, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Due to a tragedy in my life I started drawing. I believe I had a natural talent and maybe this would have shown itself somewhere anyway. Even though I was discouraged along the way, one usually finds the “purpose” we are meant to be pursuing as I did.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being self taught has been a difficult road, also the bad influence of others had changed the direction of my artistic career. Yet I found myself back pursuing my art and keep trying to be the best I can be. I am more of a realistic painter yet I like to add somewhat of a contemporary flair. As an artist I am always delving into other artistic adventures, it’s what we do!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Unfortunately I am fairly new to my area yet I do know Landa Park is a beautiful place, well laid out with many areas to attract all ages. I would also take them to Wimberly as they have an adorable town with great eateries and the river is covered in gorgeous trees.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give a shout-out to someone unexpected….God! Without Him I am nothing, he mentored me along the way. He gave me the talent and drive to pursue it. I am self taught therefore I derive all my progress from my Lord. My second biggest encouragement goes to my husband who’s my biggest fan and has gone through the ups and downs along the way. ❤️
