We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ PickJimi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Honesty. For my channel and this industry, the one thing I try to be most of all, is honest. My channel started as a simply hobby during lock down. And since then, it morphed into something so much greater to me. It’s how I’ve met my friends, it’s how to let the real me speak for the first time in my adult life. And what I learned after getting into the cigar industry is that the average consumer is, well, gullible. A lot of companies like to take advantage of that. So whereas my channel started out as just another review channel, the thing that sets me apart, aside from being the funniest guy in the game, is my honesty.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a graphic design and full time videographer. I started reviewing cigars during the lock downs of the pandemic. Originally I started with the search the for the best budget cigars, which is a series I now call Frugal Fridays. Since then, I have transitioned to reviewing all levels of cigars, exposing bad tactics and black hat marketing in the industry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If someone was visiting the DFW I’d take them to the Dallas World Aquarium, the Sixth Floor Museum, and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science and to smoke a cigar, we’d need to head to Denton Cigar Co or Casa de Montecristo Cigar Lounge & Bar.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout the New Wave and the Bushel of Bad Apples. The New Wave, my friends I never knew I needed. We met because of stupid dried and rolled up leaves. and together we’ve shaken up the digital side of this industry. And to the Bushel of Bad Apples, thank you for the support and encouragement. I hope to always enlighten you on the shady sides of this industry and keep you laughing along the way!
