We had the good fortune of connecting with Diya Craft and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diya, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
If something no longer fulfills your spirit or makes you happy then it’s time to give up, but until that moment keep going. Take breaks when you need to and if something is your passion then keep putting in the work because it will pay off one day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the vocalist, songwriter, and co-manager of Mutha-Falcon. We are a five piece punk fusion band from Denton Texas and what sets us apart from other punk bands is the way that we blend punk with various genres and bring our own unique energy to the table. Myself and our guitarist Landon Markle started the band in 2017 and have had quite the journey since then. We’ve overcome many challenges including lineup changes, navigating recording an album during a pandemic, and have kept pushing through various obstacles to achieve our dreams. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that success is not a linear journey and there will be more trials and tribulations to come but if this is something I know I really want to do and be successful at I have to take any setbacks and challenges in stride, and continue to learn and grow every step of the way. Something I would like the world to know about our band and my story is that even if our music is not your cup of tea, our resilience is undeniable and is something that sets us apart from the crowd.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I live in Denton I would definitely take them to the square I would start off by taking them to the square and visiting the mini mall and recycled books and of course catching the show at Rubber Gloves or Andy’s and grabbing some cheap drinks from Lucky Lou’s at Fry street. Then we would definitely go to Dallas and hit up The Rustic for brunch, the happiest hour to pregame before going to deep ellum for the evening and catching a show at Three Links and grabbing some dinner at Free Man’s Cafe. We would definitely go to Arlington at some point during the week and check out a show at the Growl and grab a beer at Division Brewing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to our amazing co-manager and producer Jo Higginbotham for helping push us even further in our musical journey and our totally awesome and amazing fans for their neverending love and support.
