We had the good fortune of connecting with Divya Dornadula and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Divya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I believe that my skills and interests gave me the inspiration to launch this company, and that this choice did not come to me all at once but rather developed over time. The steppingstones for my interest were my engineering training in electronics and my previous work in the area of Design, Coding and Testing in Electronics.
I completed my Bachelor’s in Electronics and Communications Engineering in India and pursued my master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Temple University, Philadelphia. Over the course of nearly six years, I worked as a product/test engineer, designing, programming, and testing power chip capabilities. When I moved to Texas, I took a break from work to concentrate on my family and kid, who was just 6 months old at the time.
When I later intended to continue my career, I knew I wanted to stay in the same field of Electronics industry, but I also wanted to attempt something fresh and new. With my passion for electronics, I began working at Wize Computing Academy as an instructor. This is when I realized my happiness doubled teaching robotics and coding to kids of all ages. The best part of my day was when I could see a smile on the student’s face on completion of any coding or robotics mission and the spark in their eyes when they got to add something creative of their own to the working robot. I was eager to get more engaged. I subsequently decided to sign up for a franchise with Wize Computing Academy because I believed my passion and newly discovered teaching skill had finally found the proper place to be used. That is how it all began! And today I am very happy to have made that decision.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Wize Computing Academy is more than simply a company; it’s a place where kids may start learning about various forms of technology at a very young age. Our company is distinctive because it paves the route for young students to become the techno-leaders of the future. The ideal technique to gain computational skills and improve cognitive abilities, in our opinion, is through active learning. We support young students in developing their imaginative capacity and creative thinking as they learn to code, construct, and design. We think that Wize Computing Academy offers deep learning via play, to put it briefly.
I believe I’ve come a long way from my early days as an engineer working for a company, full-time mother seeing my children develop, teacher, and franchisee. Being an entrepreneur now allows me to not only teach what I find personally enjoyable but also to provide possibilities for a select group of people, particularly women, who also like teaching STEM subjects. I’m proud of where I’ve come from and where I’ve been.
I first struggled to strike a balance between my personal and professional lives, but thanks to my supportive family and coworkers, I am now much better able to do so.
Every day, in my opinion, presents a fresh opportunity for learning because every kid is unique, and every classroom setting is distinct. There is always something to teach and something to learn from the youngsters we work with, who range in age from 4 to 14. I can state with pride that Wize Computing Academy offers children something unique at their school or during STEM summer camps where they may gain practical experience in coding, robotics, design, and testing.
I feel, every student should attempt something new they have no idea about and just learn it for enjoyment; you’ll likely be surprised by it in the future! I did that, I experimented with something I had never done before, and now here I am, empowered and delighted!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my closest friend were to travel to the region, I would suggest to them the sites that I had previously appreciated and delighted in seeing. To understand more about the early history of Texas, I would definitely advise visiting the Fort Worth log cabin village. Animals are loved by everybody, so I’ll undoubtedly take them to Fossil Rim to explore the several acres of safari and have a chance to see and feed some incredible deers, giraffes, zebras, and other animals. While you are here, how can we not take advantage of the spectacular ice sculpture experience in Gaylord. We may also visit San Antonio, Houston, and Galveston as they will be there for a week and visit some great, important, and historic sites there. If time allows, we may also consider setting up some tiny campsites and hiking trails because both children and adults would enjoy them. In terms of dining, I would definitely take them to some authentic Mexican, Indian, and Mediterranean restaurants in and around the city. Overall, I would make sure that their trip to Texas is unforgettable!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Every new company venture begins with a concept, which is made simple by the encouragement you receive from others around you. I would like to give credit to my spouse, my two daughters, my sister, and my parents for my achievement. When I wanted to attempt something new but was hesitant to take the initial step, they provided me with the courage and assurance to do it. I also want to give credit to Venus Bhasin and Vishal Bhasin, the founders of Wize Computing Academy, who continually encouraged and helped me turn my idea into a reality. I never imagined I would become an entrepreneur, but I am thrilled with my decision because I think I can leave a small impact on the world in my own way. In my capacity as an entrepreneur, I hope to make a big difference in the lives of my employees, students, and especially women. I’m proud to say that I work with a fantastic group of people who have always been there for me. Through every step of my journey, my family and friends have supported me firmly.
