Meet Dione “Honey” Simmons | Confectionery Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dione “Honey” Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dione “Honey”, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business came about as a result of feeling a deep desire for a new avenue to be creative in. In previous I created some confectionery treats for family and really enjoyed so when the desire to find another creative outlet came I asked myself what would I enjoy doing and boom chocolate dipped treats came to mind first and that’s when Honey’s Dipped Delights was born!!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art form is creating custom and creative chocolate dipped or drizzled treats such as strawberries, apples, cookies, marshmallows, pretzels, cheesecake, and more recently I’ve added cake cookies to the menu. I remember thinking creating chocolate dipped or drizzled treats would be easy because from the outside looking in how hard could it be to melt some chocolate and dip whatever right…I couldn’t have been more WRONG 😂!! When I decided to go down the confectionery road I had to study chocolate (the right quality of chocolate, how to temper it, working with it, where to purchase in bulk, etc) because food art is in fact a very real thing.

I knew right from the beginning I wanted to set myself apart as a treat maker by embodying a top tier customer experience from start to finish and that’s my hearts desire with everyone that hire me to create treats for them. I aim to over deliver as much as humanly possible.

Learning and growing this business isn’t always easy which I expected along the journey of learning something completely new to me however because I have so much fun doing it I keep a press forward mentality each time I touch any part of my business!

One major lesson I have learned since launching Honey’s Dipped Delights is to give myself grace to grow! My primary focus is progression over perfection.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh wow…I’m such a home body primarily…ok let’s see lol
