Meet Diamond Rivera | Director & Head Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamond Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diamond, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind creating DiamondRiveraFilmz Media was to showcase the beauty of art, dance, and etc with my own personal touch. My overall goal was to create a team of videographers & photographers that shared a passion for creating works of art through their lenses. To allow content creators the ability to have their content promoted through my platform and be able to be paid 100% of profit from work they secured, added that extra feeling of accountability. I wanted to create a family structure within my company, that empowered one another and have our audience appreciate our value. From creating this company over 8 years, it’s been so inspirational to see the work of the company be promoted all over the world,
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From being a dancer since ’96, I always believed that my purpose in life was much greater than what i could do on a stage. In 2015, I attended an event and realized that when the promotional recap was posted , it barely featured any attendees and only focused on the professionals and hired talent. This INSPIRED me to pick up a camera and really train myself to be a visual artist at events. In New York City, I worked over 150+ events in 2 years before I was hired as a media artist at events and festivals. Over the next 6 years, the brand has been able to create over 500+ visuals, including music videos, podcasts and etc. I am always a student of the game and strive to bring smiles to everyone that i capture through my lenses. Transitioning from the stage, to being the person filming these artists is one of the most rewarding feelings ever. I would want the world to know that I always looked for ways to show love to my community, and strive for collaboration , not separation.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
You gotta head to the Fusion Experience , which is the last Sunday of every month. A dance event that is focused on inclusivity, acceptance, and love.
If your looking for a weekday adventure, you can head over to Passion Thursdays at Solas Bar
You can also take a trip to Washington Heights, Brooklyn DUMBO, La Marqueta in Spanish Harlem , or K’Town in Lower Manhattan.
For food, you have to head to Brooklyn, Harlem , The Bronx, and especially Queens
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a huge shoutout to my media team , Valentin , Aria, Juan , and Kimchi. I thank them so much for believing in my vision , countless hours of filming at events, and always coming in to work with a positive attitude. Y’all inspire me to be better each day and I will continue to promote your visions and allow others to see the special traits you all possess.
