Meet Devontae Zachery | Environmentalist & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Devontae Zachery and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Devontae, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was creating an entrepreneurial haven where entrepreneurs can create the business they desire and flourish with a concrete foundation. And have a Network of likeminded individuals catapulting each other’s business to the next level

What should our readers know about your business?
us more about your business.
People of Resources Inc. is my pride and joy. We recently hit a major milestone—five years in business—and it’s been an incredible journey. We’re a community-rooted organization committed to helping in any way we can, whether that’s through mentorship, resources, or just showing up. We’re out in the community weekly, not just talking about solutions, but actively creating them.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart is our real, hands-on involvement. We’re not just behind a desk—we’re outside in the trenches, serving. Plus, our network is incredibly diverse. We have members active in everything from nonprofit work to creative industries, which gives us the ability to make powerful connections and offer unique support.
What are you most proud of or excited about?
I’m proud of the businesses and business owners we’ve helped curate and motivate along the way. Seeing others grow through what we’ve built is the most rewarding part. I’m excited about our future—we’re ready to expand and extend our impact on an even larger scale.
How did you get to where you are today business-wise?
Honestly, it started way back. I’ve been business-minded since I was a kid—selling Pokémon cards, cleaning sneakers, and hustling candy. That grind never left me. I’ve always had a passion for making something out of nothing and helping others do the same.
Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Not at all. The journey came with a lot of “no’s”—no funding, no direction, no support in the beginning. But I kept going. I believed in the vision, stayed consistent, and leaned into faith and hard work. Over time, we built something real and lasting.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
I’ve learned that hard work really does pay off. No matter how long it takes, your time will come if you stay committed. I’ve also learned the power of community—it’s everything. And lastly, you can’t be afraid to take risks and fail forward.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I want the world to know that People of Resources is here to make a difference. We stand for peace, love, and prosperity—especially through entrepreneurship. We’re here to help build a better future, and if you need our expertise, we’re always open to connect. Our story is still being written, but we’re proud of every chapter so far.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Monday:
We’d kick things off with some $5 fish baskets at Turkey Leg Paradise—can’t beat that deal! After that, we’d keep it chill with a nightcap at my place, just catching up and setting the tone for the week.
Tuesday:
Daytime we’re hitting up the Perot Museum—super interactive and always a fun experience. Then we’d grab some $1 tacos from Burrito Aguinaga (can’t pass up Taco Tuesday!). At night, we’d head over to Johnny’s Chicken & Waffles for 50¢ wings and Spades Night with the House of Spades. The energy is always on point, and it’s a great mix of competition and community.
Wednesday:
We’d explore the Dallas Museum of Art during the day—it’s free and full of culture. Then it’s all about WAP Wednesday at Nowhere for the night—always a wild and fun scene.
Thursday:
We’d keep it low-key and local at Bryan Street Tavern. It’s the perfect place to grab a drink, catch a game, and maybe shoot some pool.
Friday:
We’re back at Johnny’s Chicken & Waffles from 5-9 for that after-work unwind—drinks, hookah, games, and good music. Then we’re headed to SEEK to turn it all the way up.
Saturday:
We’d start at Local Bar and Tap for a chill warm-up, then roll into Night Safari to keep the night going—great vibes, dope music, and always a surprise around the corner.
Sunday:
We’d wrap up the week with a stop at Kanvas, then back to Night Safari until about midnight. And the final spot of the night? Cash Cow—because why not end a legendary week on a high note?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
