We had the good fortune of connecting with Devon Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Devon, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The principle that matters most to me is that I treat my patients the way that I would want to be treated. As a patient, I want you to feel heard and welcomed. I want your experience with me to be different than any other you have had before. I understand that the decision to sit in my chair or begin a tailored skin care regimen comes with a financial investment and a lot of trust, so I am forever grateful for each of them. I want them to understand that I truly care for each and every one of them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets my work apart from others is that I never treat a patient the same. In this industry, it can be common to treat patients with the same patterns and dosing for each one. Every person and what they need is different than the next therefore I treat them accordingly. I am very meticulous with my work, which is something I am very proud of because I think it gives patient the most beautiful results. At the end of the day, that is what I am there to do. If that wasn’t my goal, I would be doing my patients a disservice. I actually wasn’t pursuing the aesthetic industry as an RN when I ended up meeting my boss Bethany (@thedallasinjector). I was actually in the midst of my application to CRNA school when my career plans changed all within a moment. It was the day after the anniversary of my Mom’s passing from cancer when I saw a post on my feed from Bethany that talked about the loss of her Mom from cancer and how that has impacted her life. I ended up reposting it to my stories, which I often think about what my life would look like if I hadn’t. Being vulnerable on social media isn’t easy and I’m sure I hesitated even posting something like that to my feed. Well, it got us talking and after a little stalking of my page on her part she noticed I was a nurse and asked if I was interested in aesthetics. I ended up shadowing her a few days later and the rest was history. I fell in love with the industry and the relationships built with patients. I am naturally quite the introvert and can sometimes avoid social situations, which is why I had never really pursued it in the first place. However, what I love most about this career is getting to meet amazing people and hear all about their life. Not only that but I get to give them confidence that allows them to be a better self. I really believe that if you feel confident in yourself, you are better to yourself and you’re a better friend, spouse, Mom, Dad, child, sibling, etc. I have learned that something I feared so deeply (meeting new people often) has ended up being the biggest blessing in my life and the part I love more than anything. I want people to know that being able to instill confidence in my patients is the biggest blessing I could ever be given and I don’t take the responsibility lightly. I have also learned that even the smallest decisions, like reposting somebody’s instagram post can end up being one of your biggest life decisions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am located in Lindale, Texas which is a smaller town in East Texas that is very close to Tyler. I would definitely suggest going to this hole in the wall restaurant called B’s that has the best burgers and fries ever. I truly believe that I am quite the burger connoisseur, so believe me when I say they are the best. They use local beef from a farm in East Texas and they have the best jalapeño sourdough buns in the world. After that, I would have to suggest going to Waldo Way to get the best muffins on this earth. They also have all raw dairy products and I have to say there raw chocolate milk is deadly. I would definitely have to take my best friend to the Med-Spa of course to show them my beautiful place to call work. Then we would stay at my in-laws place out in Gilmer, where there is cattle and pine trees galore. There’s always something fun to do out on the land.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my wonderful husband. Without his continued support in everything that I do, I don’t know if I would be where I am today. He has always been my biggest cheerleader and the one person that always pushes me to be the best that I can.
