We had the good fortune of connecting with Desiree Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Desiree, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been a creative soul, art takes form in so many ways. Growing up with 4 siblings i was always the creative one decorating, planning, scrapbooking, diy, i am even creative with my food! I knew I’d eventually take the creative path professionally.

Dfw Urban Picnics is still very new, but I know with hard work and dedication it will be a success.

Being a luxury picnic planner the creativity is endless.

Being able to create these beautiful and intimate experiences for people, seeing the reactions and smiles on their faces is the best feeling, it is why I do what it do.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a Latina owned luxury picnic business called Dfw Urban Picnics. We provide beautiful luxury picnic setups for all occasions.

We even offer charcuterie and brunch boards.

What sets us apart from others is our style and our passion. I genuinely enjoy creating and piecing together these gorgeous table settings it allows my creativity to go wild. Our style is unique each theme is one of a kind, i put my heart into every single picnic.

We are also pretty affordable compared to others on the market.

The business is still very new but I have no doubt we will grow and show the people of Dfw what we can do. We are very excited for the future as we do plan on adding other services as we grow.

Getting to this point in the business has not been easy but it was well worth it, aside from this small business I am also a certified medical assistant as well as a mom x3 so juggling all that while planning and launching was all very overwhelming.

There were times when I felt like giving up and just sticking to my 9-5, but then I’d remember why I started and I’d look at my family and instantly I got motivated.

I took it one day at a time and put in the work, I just wish I started sooner.

I learned to never be afraid to want more in life, start that small business you’ve been thinking about. Life is too short to be making someone else rich.

Also success doesn’t happen overnight, you have to be patient, trust the process and be consistent.

Here at Dfw Urban Picnics we have passion and heart, I enjoy what I do and I’m looking forward to the future.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a hard one because Dfw has so much to offer! We would start off with Norma’s cafe in Oakcliff for breakfast this is one of my favorite diners of all time, very retro and vintage.

Then we would head over to downtown to get artsy at the Dallas Museum of Art.

Grab lunch and a drink at the Truck Yard, they have the best cheesesteaks and the scene is very unique and has a great aesthetic, they have a tree house y’all, and yes your fur babies are welcome too.

We would then go take in some city views at Reunion tower.

Also Check out the Bishop Arts Distric and shop some local small businesses.

Then finish the night off in the Trinity groves area, dinner and drinks at Saint Rocco’s New York Italian, make reservations and ask for rooftop seating!
The lasagna is absolutely amazing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Ernesto and our 3 boys, they always push me to be the best version of myself.

They are my biggest cheerleaders, they support me through anything and everything and I’m so lucky to call them my family.
