We had the good fortune of connecting with Denisse Urbina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denisse, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Helping people is what it’s always been on my mind. This services are needed much more thank we think. People need more information on feet care. Feet are a really important part of our body and preventive care should be essential.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m the owner of Unico Nail Care, I currently own two Nail Care Centers. I’m a Medical Nail Technician. What is a Medical Nail Technician? A Medical Nail Technician is a state licensed Nail Technician who has completed advanced training in techniques to trim toenails, reduce calluses and nail thickness. I and my team are educated in how to perform cosmetic clinical pedicures safely on clients who are chronically ill and to recognize “out-of-normal” nails for referral to podiatrists. We have interned with a Podiatrist and fulfilled specific skills requirements during this time. A Medical Technician also has extensive training on the cleaning, sanitation and sterilization of tools and implements. It has been hard to find people who want to work in this industry because of lack of information. We have a high demand on services and not enough hands for everyone. I know this service is needed when people are willing to travel from another states for services. My goal is to expand as much as I can to be in all the United States. We are proud to be a Latina owned company and also help the Hispanic community. My next goal is to have my own non-profit organization to serve low income community. The prices on our services is a high cost due to all equipment and process of sanitation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Bishop Arts that’s my favorite area in all DFW. You can find everything in oak Cliff. Currently I don’t go out to much because of work.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There was a couple of my clients who are not longer with us and always encourage me during the begging of my career. When my business started and the shut down of the pandemic happened they mailed me checks to pay off my rent of my first suite. The cheering of how important my services were to them made me realize the need. The support was unreal! I have many stories of how blessed me and my family are. God really has a plan for everyone, you just have to wait for the right moment.
