We had the good fortune of connecting with Dee Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dee, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by the concept of growth. It is an amazing thing to watch someone push through a struggle and come out stronger and wiser on the other side. This is what drives my own efforts and attention to personal growth. It is also the passion that drives my counseling and coaching others. I desire for other people to know the feeling of accomplishment, success, and pride in oneself that comes from pushing through struggle.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own and manage an online mental health practice. I have been a Marriage & Family Therapist since 2005, practicing therapy in varying settings. In April 2019 I decided to take a step of faith and become Heal Grow Share PLLC. One year later, COVID was on the scene, along with new challenges. Good news is that I love a challenge. I believe it draws creativity and ingenuity out of a person. It was a rollercoaster ride, but we pivoted and were, for the most part, unaffected as a business. In fact Heal Grow Share grew significantly, both in number of practitioners, and in the process of how we provide services. I believe my personal growth, a history of meeting challenges face on, years of being around other amazing leaders, and optimistic outlook are what have resulted in the establishment and growth of Heal Grow Share. I take pride in describing our practice as warm and caring. We work hard for it to not have a sterile, dry, feel. We do not want our clients to just feel like a number or a dollar sign. I often express to our team the importance of “seeing, hearing, and validating” each person by using a person-centered approach, treating each person with genuine care and respect. My desire is that every client would feel truly known and truly cared about.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area, I would take her to Pizzeria Testa in Frisco, for lunch. It is an upbeat, exciting part of town. It has a cozy atmosphere and delicious food. Then, we would go to the Dallas Arboretum to stroll and enjoy the beautiful scenery and nature. We would spend the afternoon chatting over tea at the DeGolyer Tea Room.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who have contributed to my healing and growth over the years. There is no way I could name every single one of them. My parents and sisters have taught me a lot about work ethic and taking risks. There are a number of leaders who have seen, spoken to, and called out the potential in me. My husband has been my biggest supporter, challenger, cheerleader, and encourager. Regarding personal growth and development, I would say Dr. Michael Gervais has had the most significant and deepest reaching influence on my personal growth. Though I have never met him, his books, podcasts, youtube videos, and coaching program have helped me explore the depths of my being, allowing me to gain insight and direction and passion. I’m grateful that he has pursued learning and sharing his craft.
