We had the good fortune of connecting with Decarlos Fisher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Decarlos, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Well I’ve always been in to art in general. Whether It was drawing, paintings or photography. Art has always been a big part of my life. I admit I was a bit nervous about taking the photography angle in my younger years but once I’d become of age and had children of my own, I bought a camera to take pictures of graduations and special moments with them. The rest is history lol
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a boudoir and portraits photographer. I specialize in natural light photography. I don’t like to limit myself when It comes to the models I work with. I will shoot anyone who wants to be photographed. To me for so long society has said you to look a certain way or be a certain size to be a model and I wholeheartedly disagree with that.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Lol I couldn’t begin to know how to answer this one. I’m a huge introvert, but if I’d had to say so, maybe the studio movie grill. I fell in love with those when I first moved here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout to my younger brother Antwoin Gilbert, he was a big reason I decided to jump into this with my camera. He’s a photographer as well and seeing him work hard and progress with his craft help me realize I can do it to with patience and effort. Also, my good friend Shalisa Smith has always had great advice to help me when I needed it. There’s also a new person in my life that has been a great person and currently we are working together to make more greatness, you know who you are.
