We had the good fortune of connecting with DDiltz Productions and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DDiltz, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally from a small town in East Texas called Longview, but moved to Dallas with my mom when I was a child. Moving to Dallas allowed for better education opportunities and in middle school I was accepted into a magnet school to study music which led me to playing in the marching band and learning composition throughout high school. Being around music allowed me to express myself in a way I wasn’t able to before which has left a foundation for a very passionate career.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Originally my big dream was to be a film composer (inspired by Hans Zimmer and John Williams). I went to a community college to study composition but dropped out due to personal reasons. When the pandemic started in early 2020 I decided to start learning music production and engineering and spent several months learning and perfecting my craft. While I was learning I also used social media apps (Instagram in particular) to network with other artists and producers which has led me to developing a loyal fanbase.
Something that sets me apart from a lot of the producers I have met is that I have a deep background of music theory, classical music, jazz, and I play 10 different instruments. This allows me to not only be diverse in what styles of music I can produce but it also allows me to easily collaborate with artists since I have years of experience in being an accompanist and in ensembles. Many artists call me their go to producer since I am able to make them custom beats and really know how to bring their vision to life and also give them a polished radio ready sound all in one package.
I’d say the thing I am most proud of at this time is the fact that I am able to support myself with music which is something I have dreamed about for most of my life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d say Deep Ellum would be a go to spot mainly because of the live music and creative atmosphere. The arts district downtown would be another good spot
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to shoutout my mom and family first and foremost for never abandoning me or my dreams. Also every music teacher I’ve ever had has a played a big role in my development as well as my youth pastor and mentors growing up. Also a big shoutout to my girlfriend for always encouraging me to chase my dreams.
