We had the good fortune of connecting with David Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think the most important factor behind the success of my business is that I’m always learning. I’m always trying new and different things. Any time I feel like I’m staying in the same place for too long, I know that’s not good. So, I listen to podcasts, watch tutorial videos, take online courses, and pay attention to evolving technology and audience experiences. Surrounding myself with talented people who are better at certain things within my industry is invaluable as well.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My focus is helping business owners land their dream customers. We do this primarily through targeted online content that brings value to specific audiences.

This can take the form of blogs, emails, landing pages, social media content, etc.

The key is to understand the audience, and what they truly want and need.

Bringing value, educate, answer questions and solve problems.

I’ve worked for myself for a little more than five years. I have been laid off twice from companies, and both are still my clients today. Working for myself is certainly not easy. I wear all hats. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. The freedom and flexibility are invaluable. And I love teaching others how they can do the same thing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
WOW! This is a tough one. That’s one of the best things about Dallas–there are so many awesome restaurants, bars and things to do. First, we’d have to get some Tex-Mex and margaritas. Maybe some Mesa Mayo or some Mia’s or even some of the lesser-known places are awesome. We’d also have to grab some BBQ. My wife and I used to love BrainDead Brewing in Deep Elum, but that’s closed now. Maybe hang out around lower Greenville and hit some places around Bishop Arts. Depending on the season, we’d have to go to a Mavs game, try for a Cowboys game, or Rangers.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The people, books, podcasts and organizations that deserve credit for teaching and helping me throughout my career would be too long to mention. Small and big impacts all matter. If I had to single anyone out for a shoutout, it would be my wife and four kids for supporting me and encouraging me to build something for myself.
