We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Pando and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danny, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I think the most important thing I’ve done as a parent is cutting back on my work schedule and spending more quality time with my kids. In the beginning of my career I was driven to make the most money possible so that I could give them all the things I never had. Now my main focus is still providing for them but also making the most of our time together. Memories and quality time together are far more important than anything money could buy.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a tattoo artist currently employed at Dark Age Tattoo in Denton Texas. I am most proud of the fact that I am pretty versatile in a field that is now full of “specialists”. I started tattooing in 2007 in Odessa Texas. In the beginning it was simple designs off the wall at the local tattoo shop. As I learned more and more about my craft I started to want to make my own designs and got really into automotive art work. At that point in 2010 with the help of my wife I opened my own tattoo shop. From there I learned that there was so much more to this craft than I could even imagine. I quickly started to make a name for myself locally, after that I have to hire more artist just to keep up with demand. After that I started traveling to tattoo shows and discovered the thrill of competitive tattooing. The biggest challenge was trying to find a balance between home life and work life. After 8 years of the madness of running a tattoo shop trying to keep up in a demanding and competitive craft I decided to change it up I looked for work all over the state. Found a job at Dark Age Tattoo and parted ways with my hometown and the business I had built. Now I am more focused on my family and my art. Moving to north Texas has allowed me to be the best me I can be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m partial to Denton as this is where I live. Probably go eat at Roosters roadhouse, hooches is always good too. Then of course you have to order insomnia cookies. Drinks at any place around the square in denton are always good. As far as the rest of DFW definitely Midevil times that place is so much fun. Most of my friends are into sports and live music so really depends on who’s playing where that night. Anywhere there’s good food and good times we would probably try to find it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife deserves all the credit for my success. She has stood beside me through al the the good times and most importantly through all the bad, I don’t believe I would have made it this far without all her support and encouragement.
