Meet Danny Ermis | Musician, Writer, and Local Community Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Ermis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danny, what are you inspired by?
I am truthfully inspired by people. There are so many people in this world who do not have a platform that showcases their full ability and through social media outlets I have found an ocean of people who have unique abilities that they can share with the world. I am always inspired by people and their ability to innovate.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In my life, I have always been inspired fundamentally by people. Through music, movies, books, sports, etc. My artistic and creative pursuits truly began when I was growing up in Thousand Oaks, California. Early on in life I was creating things. I found a love and passion in music, creating content like home movies at a really young age with my siblings, art classes in school, and found a true love for creative writing. When I was in 5th grade there was a reading competition at my Elementary School, and the goal was to read as many books as possible that year. Although I did not win the competition, this year was pivotal in filling my head with knowledge of writing and creative storytelling.
When I was in Middle School I really fell in love with Art Classes in school. It was a type of escapism. I would find myself fully submersed in the art I was making, and it took me to another beautiful world in my conscious and subconscious mind. In Middle School my family moved from Southern California, and we moved to Penang, Malaysia where band class was a requirement. I fell in love with music even further and was ingratiated with the aspect of learning a new type of language in music.
When I joined the United States Air Force at 20 years old, I began playing guitar more frequently, and from there started song writing by writing my own songs, and composing my own music. To this day I still create and record my original music as an ongoing spiritual act of discovery through the creation of music and writing through the artist name that came to me one day. The pseudonym “The War Wings” came to me one day, and it all made sense. It highlighted my experience in the U.S. Air Force, my love for fighter jets and aircrafts , and had a duality to it in the regard of the ongoing battle between good and evil | Angels and Demons. Literally my own version of the concept of Yin / Yang.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend was visiting me, I would probably pick them up disguised as Inspector Gadget and we would go on some sort of crime fighting mystery hunt! Or in reality we would find somewhere great to eat. It wouldn’t have to be expensive, just authentic. Depending on what they were in the mood for, I would take them to a hole in the wall Taqueria to find some authentic street tacos, or here in Texas, grab some of our world famous barbecue. I love food from all over the world, and when you are open to try new things, and in a city like Dallas, the options are endless. We have some amazing Korean restaurants in Carrollton. Maybe grab some Sushi, or find ourselves in the hunt for some amazing Tex-Mex Cantinas.
When we weren’t eating, we would go on adventures with our cameras to take shots of the downtown city-life, jump on an electric bike or scooter and cruise through the streets, and find some museums or live shows. I also would take them somewhere in nature to go hiking, kayaking, paddling, or find some off-road beaten path to jump on some all-terrain vehicles to hopefully explore further!
A really close friend of mine have been friends for 20 years, and we tend to find that the most fun, interesting, and exciting things to do are by setting no expectations, and venturing out with an open mind and and you never know where you will end up or what stories you will have that unfold as a result.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are definitely many things that have aided in my development and success throughout life. My parents are at that table, along with so many really supportive friends throughout life, and the United States Air Force shaped me in a profound way as a young adult. I have learned a great deal through the Bible, and my ongoing spiritual journey is another facet of inspiration that is apart of the success I have found in life.
