We had the good fortune of connecting with Dafani Norman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dafani, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is first and foremost God, along with my love, drive and desire to help people. There are so many people out there that need help, but are unfortunately being overlooked because of the lack of compassion that almost ceases to exist. I have faced many challenges alone and have been misunderstood and even neglected. When my life changed and things took a turn for the better, I vowed to God that I would do everything that He gives me the ability to do to help someone never have to feel the way I did. It is my goal to help heal the world one heart at a time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a published Author and the Founder of IROCC, Inc. IROCC stands for I’m Reaching Out Creating Confidence. We are an organization that focuses on empowering, encouraging, and helping to build individuals who struggle with lack of self-esteem, self-care and self-love.We serve all walks of life, including but not limited to those who have suffered life tramas, abandonment and abuse. We assist with improving the physical, emotional and mental health and wellness of those in need. We provide resources and materials including clothes, shoes, personal hygiene products, and food. We also provide therapy services through my counseling organization Mending Hearts Support Services where I serve as one of the Certified Belief Therapists/ Life Coaches.

I got where I am by stepping out on faith. I was afraid that I wasn’t going to get the resources or support to do all of what my vision included. I learned that you have to step outside of your comfort zone. Sometimes that means doing it afraid. You have to stand bold and to go into areas that you may not feel you are qualified to go into. Open your mouth and share your vision because you never know who is in the room. Lastly, Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Someone may have what it takes to help you meet your desired goal.

It takes true commitment, sacrifice and quite natural monetary investment. You may have to start out small at first, but don’t rush the process. Take your time and build your dream. Most of all, don’t settle and don’t ever believe that something is impossible. Keep the faith and most importantly keep God at the front.

I want the world to know that IROCC is not just another Non Profit, It is our goal to make sure that no one is left out. We want to make sure everyone knows that they are not beyond help and that they don’t have to suffer in silence.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well everyone knows I absolutely LOVE music, food, and entertainment! We would make sure to go to some good breakfast/ brunch spots. Some of my faves are Ellen’s, Grand Luxe, Blue Mesa. We would hit a few of the hot shopping spots in  the Arlington Outlet, Galleria Mall, North Park Mall and Cedar Hill Outdoor Mall. We are definitely going roller skating at Roller-World in Grand Prairie, and end the night at a few of the local spots for some live music from some of my favorite bands, particularly Soulful Sounds, Mandie and her crew and Miracle and her crew, just to name a few. Sundays are for church! If you know me you know I love God with everything in me so we are definitely going to make time to get a word, shout and give God praise!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to the greatest pushers I could ask for, My mom Rita, Sister Felisa and my entire family. Along with them are my DPC Family. My therapist Chi Smith and my closet/best friends aka The Friends Crew. I am super grateful for all of the love and support that comes from all of the people that take the time to encourage, mentor and pour into me. I honestly don’t think I could have done it without them.
