We had the good fortune of connecting with Cynthia Holsclaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cynthia, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
I am a people pleaser by nature so my first though about how I wanted my business to run was to make sure my clients knew they were important to me. They weren’t just dollar signs. I build relationships with my clients so that they want to come back and even refer their friends. I fully believe that personal relationships are so important to small businesses in order to grow. 

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We create bold and colorful images that are true to life color. I have been shooting professionally for almost 20 years now and to watch the trends move and change in the photography world is always so fascinating. I want my work to stand out but also to be classic and hold up 30 years down the road. I truly believe that YCM is so successful because of the relationships we build, in addition to create beautiful memories. Owning your own business is never easy but working with people we love and that love us make makes it so much more fun!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots would definitely be more downtown areas. Downtown Denton is great with eclectic eateries and live music. I also enjoy Legacy West but I am mostly a homebody and love a good indoor movie night!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this to all of my loyal clients that constantly show up to support us and refer their friends. With out which we would no longer be able to continuously grow.
