We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Parker -Polk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Crystal, how do you think about risk?
I like to think of risk as fear. Taking risk has shown me that whatever is on the other side of my decision to take the risk, was motivated by faith & hope that taking this risk changes my situation for the better . Taking the risk has always resulted in a lesson that I needed. As well as a blessing to change my situation or to strengthen my faith, learn patience & revisit my position to receive what I am asking . I am a firm believer, That if you are not in the correct position to receive you can not appreciate the ask .
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am most proud of myself for not giving up on myself or my dreams through many hardships. Also staying true to my foundation in such a world of compromise. I pride myself in my love for people, my determination & drive to see the end results.
This path was not easy, however, it was worth it . Going through life’s ups & downs has conditioned me for right now. I have learned how to have tough skin in the game. To mean what I say & respect my time & investments by any means. I am who I am because of my past. I overcame my past by facing the truth, taking ownership of my mistakes & freeing myself of baggage holding me & my dreams hostage, keeping me from moving forward in life .
I want the world to know my brand is the foundation of love , light & truth and everyone should experience it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my best friend to eat at Kitchen & Kocktail’s downtown. I love the vibe, music & food. Dj’s steakhouse in Addison for dinner, Vinnetti’s in Addison for sure for a nice good time afterwards .(I love live bands) Saturday morning we would attend a morning workout with @Mrsakafitness, Maybe have lunch at breakfast brother’s in Arlington. We would do some shopping over in Bishop Arts District if the weather is nice. Later we would head over to Sandaga downtown deep ellum for more great music. Sunday we would do a church service in Duncanville at Mt . Rose led by Bishop J.D Thomas for a little strength & motivation for the week . End the weekend with Football Sunday at 1/2 Daiquiri Shoppe locations in Grand Prairie or Carrollton for some good Cajun Gumbo & frozen daiquiris.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out to my grandparents who are the ultimate source to my foundation & success. Their teachings of having a spiritual life, appreciation of foundation, faith & family has been the center of my life. Most of their lessons of entrepreneurship at an early age were the most value-added to my success today.
My cousin/Mentor – Genize Burks ; She was the leading example growing up for me. She showed me discipline & balance. She has always set the bar high & showed me that “No” is just the stepping stone to create your own YES ! & ” Make it happen ” was always the motto. She always believed in me no matter what mistakes I made & gave me a chance. That simply made the difference and has been the height of my balance being a wife, mother & business owner .
