We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Finney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, what matters most to you?
I believe that no matter how much money you are spending, whether you’re buying a $300k home or a $3m home, you should be treated like yours is the most important transaction of my career. I pride myself in offering luxury service at all price points. Every single one of my clients deserves the best of me. And not only that, but they deserve the upmost respect and to be treated fairly and with dignity.

This also means that when someone hires me, they hire just me. I don’t do the volume of transactions as a lot of other Realtors do because I don’t want to pass a client off to an assistant or someone else on my team. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s just not me. I purposefully keep my current client roster small because I want to be able to focus and give my attention to just you.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a Realtor, my business is obviously client based. NOT transaction based! I treat my clients like close family or friends. I want to be invited to your house warming party and added to your Christmas cards list because you’ll certainly be on mine! I don’t want our relationship to end when the transaction closes. I want you to be so happy working with me that you cannot wait to work with me again. And on top of that, you want to refer me to your friends and family because you know that I’ll take amazing care of them, too.

Plus, I don’t want my mother to overpay for a home, so why should you? I want my bestie to get as much as possible when selling her home, so I think you should, too. I’m going to fiercely negotiate on your behalf to get you the absolute best deal possible because it’s my job, sure, but also because you’re family now and I want to take great care of you.

But, here’s the thing… I’m also going to be brutally honest with you. I’ll play the Devil’s Advocate and prepare you for the worst-case scenario. I’m going to prepare you for the good, the bad, and the ugly. There are always bumps in the road that cannot be avoided and I’m going to help navigate us over them.

And I will give my opinion and it might not always be what you want to hear. But ultimately, the decisions lay with my clients because it’s not my money or my home. I’m also always thinking 2 steps ahead. The house you’re thinking about purchasing, do I think I can sell it easily in a few years when the market has shifted back to a more neutral market or even a buyer’s market? I will prepare you for that.

Was building my business easy? Of course not! Turning down business because I want to focus on just a few clients at a time is really hard. But staying true to my core beliefs, allows me to give my all to those few instead of being spread so thin that mistakes start to happen. Plus, it allows me to pick the clients that I think that I can really help.

Now, do I leave people sitting out in the cold? Never! I have an amazing referral network with agents all over the Dallas | Fort Worth metroplex, across the country, and in several different countries around the world that I can refer you to.

A lot of Realtors, especially the newer ones, will take any business they can get… even if you can tell that it’s going to be a nightmare from start to finish. When you and your client just don’t get along it’s just hard and frustrating on both sides. I learned early-on that I didn’t want my business to feel that way.

So, as you’re reading, I want you to know this… not every Realtor is made for every client. If you’re looking for an agent to help you buy or sell a home, interview several and see who fits with you the best. If you’re a Realtor, I’m giving you permission to say, “No”. Does this all ensure a smooth transaction? Nope! But does it help because you better trust the person you’re working with? YES!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First and foremost, I would make sure that my friend saw the Dallas World Aquarium. It’s my top recommendation for visitors to this area because it’s a whole experience. I’ve been serval times and it’s always amazing. It’s not just an Aquarium as the name suggests, it’s the layers of an ecosystem that you walk through. You’ll see monkeys and birds, sloths and bugs, otters and penguins, sharks and jellyfish. And as you make your way down you’ll get to my most favorite part…the manatees underwater. And if we’re going to be downtown we should check out Klyde Warren Park and finish with food and drinks at the Art Park in Trinity Groves.

After so much activity, we’ll need a bit of a spa day, and the manis and pedis at Rose Couture Nail Bar will give you the best Instagrammable pictures while also helping those tired footsies.

Because I’m super bougie, we’ll have to check out the DMA and see a show over at the Winspear Opera House. And I know some fabulous photographers that do some fantastic pictures outside of the Winspear since we’ll already be all dolled up.

And every true vacation needs a PIG OUT day so we’ll be hitting up Black Tap Dallas for their insane milkshakes. We’ll also need something to commemorate the trip so we’ll stop by Dallas Glass Art to take one of their glass blowing classes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would be absolutely no where without the encouragement and support of my coaches and crew… especially Kim Dean and Samantha Smith from the Simply Texas Real Estate Group with eXp Realty. Their wisdom, guidance, support, and mentorship throughout my real estate career have enabled me to build and grow my own thriving business. Everyone at Simply Texas is all about collaboration and support. When one of us succeeds, we all succeed! And it is a beautiful environment to be a part of.

Real estate is notoriously deemed cut-throat and fraught with negativity. And the prevailing thought is if that agent over there is doing well, then it takes business away from me. Veteran agents don’t typically take newer agents under their wings to help them learn and grow.

Simply Texas is NOT like that. I forget sometimes that being a part of such a loving and supportive group is not something everyone enjoys. If you’re reading this and you don’t feel like you get the support you need where you are, please contact me!
