We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cory, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The idea of the band becoming a business evolved over time. It started out as something we enjoyed. We quickly realized that it required a savvy approach to “survive” and “cut through” the competition. This started with the branding of the group. One example is that we had professional photo sessions in real studios and thought thru the concepts for these photo shoots. This helped set us apart form other groups because we looked different and represented our sound in our look and appeal.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think the chemistry of the band is what sets us apart. This is chemistry through our personalities and what inspires us and draws us together. It’s also what leads to our songwriting and how quickly we are able to put ideas together. It really feels seamless. When we put out our first LP Movements, I believe we went like 10 weeks in a row and wrote a new song every week. The magic of our creative bond is so potent. It’s very motivating when the creation of the art and the chemistry in our live performance is so gratifying.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them for drinks at the Statler hotel bar. From there, we might go to dinner at Town Hearth and we’d go catch a few songs from a live band at Adairs to complete the experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would shout out our photographer Jill Johnson. She helped elevate our brand through helping us conceptualize our branding through photography and art,. I think it helped us build our identity as a group and allowed us to leverage this brand into a household name within DFW.
