We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Steward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cory, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be that I helped my clients achieve their career dreams by tapping into their full potential. I want them to remember how I provided encouragement and believed in them when they didn’t believe in themselves. Bringing value and richness to the people I have met would bring me joy long after I am physically gone.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My Mission: I help people with all aspects of their career goals and instill career confidence.

My Execution: I specialize in interview preparation, career coaching, and salary negotiation. My slogan is “Get Confidence, Stand Out, Get Hired.” I started coaching over 10 years ago, and in 2018 I decided it was time to open up my business officially. The hardest part was staying consistent and being happy with my progress, whether big or small. I learned that success doesn’t happen overnight but is planned, and it’s up to you to stay committed to the plan and work it every day. The bottom line is I am just being obedient to my calling to help people achieve career success.

It’s important people know that you can achieve anything through confidence, but it has to start within. People and the world may doubt you, but true confidence is believing in yourself even against all odds. Working with me provides Confidence and Clarity, putting you one step closer to achieving your career goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

  • Somewhere you can dress up, live in the moment, and celebrate life, and Sandaga would be perfect for that.
  • Addison, to hit up Gloria’s for the margaritas
  • Snooze for the best brunch or Common Table for the vibe and atmosphere.
  • Shops of legacy for dinner, uptown, and Deep Ellum to bar hop.
  • A nice rooftop for a view of the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Jheneal Milan McDuffie. She has become my sister, business partner, and coach. We all need accountability and inspiration, and Jheneal is one of the many people who contributed a considerable part of where I am today.
