We had the good fortune of connecting with Cortney McClure and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cortney, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Design is more than aesthetics, to me. It’s a service, and my goal and desire is to serve others. I found so much joy in crafting a well-loved home for my own family, that it became a clear vocation. While a corporate background is not the traditional prerequisite for a design career, I’ve continually drawn from my experience in those positions. My journey in starting my own design firm is unconventional, but every season has been preparation for the next. Being trusted to customize clients’ homes is such a wonderful responsibility – and I get to do what I love every day.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Cortney McClure Design is known for creating timeless and intentional designs for the well-loved home. From historic renovations to new builds. Our goal is to provide enduring, classic and luxurious designs for our clientele. Working alongside clients, builders, and trades, our firm also provides project management to ensure all details are selected and carried out during construction.
Each of our projects are stylistically unique; resonating with the needs and wants of each client, which allows for a diverse offering and portfolio.
It’s a constant learning and growing season, when owning your own business. Just when you think you have it all figured out, a new challenge comes along and your navigating something new! The design part is what comes easy and naturally, but the business side of things is where I really have to hone in on how to do things right and efficient. Taking pride in our work and taking care of the employees and clients are top priority for our firm.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If they were visiting Bartlesville, I would book them a room at the Inn at Price Tower, Frank Lloyd Wright’s only built skyscraper, which is nestled in downtown. Woolaroc would be a must see, brunch at Frank and Lola’s, seeing a show at The Center, dinner at The Painted Horse and a quick drive over to Pawhuksa to visit The Pioneer Woman Mercantile.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to recognize my amazing design team; Jennifer, Reid, Elle Jett, Alyssa, Laura and Tanner. Without their dedication, skill and work ethic, we would not have the success and reputation that we do. I will forever be grateful to each of them for their commitment to building this company alongside me.
We work with several incredible builders and trades, which we are so thankful for. We partner with Rovenstine Homes on the majority of our renovations and new build projects. Aaron shares an incredible amount of industry related knowledge with our team and has helped us to refine our processes and quality of deliverables.
Our community is one of the most pivotal factors in our growing client base and number of projects. Our small town desires the same attention to detail as cities ten times their size, and we are being entrusted to make those details happen. We are committed to providing the home that works for our clients; and we know of no better place than Bartlesville to do it.
