We had the good fortune of connecting with Cori Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cori, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Investing in relationships. That has taken me to new heights, even when I’m not in search for it. When you’re good to people, they value that.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve had quite the journey with the camera in my hand. What makes me the proudest is that I did it my way.

Following trends I don’t care for, working with people just for status, accepting jobs that goes against my morals; Avoiding these things are the reason I feel like my community of creators and supporters can easily identify with my work.

Taking the communication and time management skills I obtained working at a bank in college has definitely helped me run my own personal business.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My fiancé, Jakyra Stewart.

While working in an industry where a lot of your “co-workers” for the day will be women, its been very instrumental for me to gain knowledge, understanding, and overall direction on how to maneuver around. It’s a blessing to be able to have her support me and also assist as my creative director on occasion. She’s the best with set designs for clients, great sense of style, and the perfect person. to expand my visions with.
