We had the good fortune of connecting with Cori Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cori, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I decided to start my own business it was primarily based on making sure I could spend quality time with my kids and always be active and available for either extracurricular activities or just being there when they needed me. I also wanted to be my own boss and make sure I put myself and my family in a position financially that would provide us with all the things we needed first and foremost and then all the things we wanted. I also wanted to get to the point to where I was established enough to give back to the community.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the owner of Integrity Elite Security Services, LLC. We’re a small security firm that specializes in retail, commercial, and special event security. Every time you hire us expect to get the highest’s level of security services. We pride ourselves on going above and beyond to make sure the client is happy. Our officers are professional, neat, knowledgeable, and prepared for a variety of situations or events. What I’m most proud about is that fact that we’re able to give back to the community. We’re able to set money aside and help those in need by either helping a family send their child to camp, provide meals, or even provide assistance resources for those that don’t know how to get in contact with someone that could help them out of their situation. I got to where I am today by having patience and being consistent in what I wanted to accomplish. It wasn’t easy at all and it had a lot of challenges. Going place to place passing out business cards and trying to sell your small company to people in the DFW area where a lot of bigger companies exist comes with more NO’s then Yes’s but I stayed prayed up, patient and consistent and it eventually paid off. What I learned on this journey is you have to believe in yourself immensely even when doubt starts to creep in. What I want the world to know about me is: I’m just a man building a foundation brick by brick so that maybe one day my family and others can expand on it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I’m an SMU Mustang so we would have to attend some event at the University. I’d take them to campisis on Mockingbird Lane so they could enjoy some good Italian food. and go downtown and check out all the museums and monuments in Downtown Dallas. You always meet the most interesting people in downtown Dallas or Deep Ellum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Dad and My Grandmother are the people I credit most for my success. Watching my dad iron our clothes and shine his work boots every night before bed and then get up everyday at 4:00am for work the next morning just to provide for us really left a lasting impression on me growing up. Me, being at the age I am now, I realize how hard that is and how much discipline, dedication, and love for your family that takes. So I’d say from my dad I learned to take pride in how I carry myself, always step up to the plate and take care of my responsibilities. My Grandmother was a loving but stern old school woman. She instilled in me an old school mentality. Always be respectful, ( yes ma’am, no ma’am, yes sir, no sir) When you shake someone’s hand do it with a firm grip and look them in their eyes. and most importantly know how to act no matter where you are or who you’re around because she would always know if I was acting up. My Grandmother really pushed education and that’s what motivated me to go to college get a bachelors as well as a masters degree. Everything I’ve accomplish has been because of the foundation my dad and grandmother paved for me
