We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Goswick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Corey, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Giving up is always an option, and for me there for a few weeks, it was the option that seemed the best.

I went over a month with zero sales. I ended up giving them as Christmas Gifts because no one was buying them. I wanted to give up, but I told myself “This is supposed to be fun.” From there I geared my “why am I doing this?” from money to having fun. It ultimately keeps me from spending long hours scrolling through social media, to creating bubble masterpieces.

Once I starting making it run, BOOM, out of no where I went from selling zero to now selling anywhere between 150-200 bars of soap a week.

Find your reason “why” and never stop. Some days are hard, some days are slow, but the reward behind seeing my customers get their products is the reason I am glad I never gave up.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
During the day, I work in sales in my full time position. At night and every other hour outside, I am a full time bubble mastermind behind TXLUX SOAPS.

What sets me apart from others?
I love people. I never meet a stranger. As most people say, I am the “real life Buddy the Elf.” I always have a smile on my face, always here with a good joke, and you no doubt will laugh with me. My art reflects my personality. The colors are vibrant, the names are hilarious, and most importantly it is handmade with so much love. I am a colorful person, so I love that to reflect in my soap. I love naming the products something fun. For example a few of my soap names are: Fresh Showered Man, B*tches that Brunch, Day Drinking, and Fifty Shades of Bubbles.

All of it did not come easy, I went over a month with no sales. I wanted to give up, but was pushed by others to do what I love and just have fun. It has it challenges for sure, there are days where I can’t think of any creative new scents or the collection was a bust. But guess what? You pick up, and move on. If a soap doesn’t sell, my creative work was still there, I had fun, and I create something even better that everyone loves.

One of my biggest accomplishments thus far would be the boutiques I have my products in. To name them: House of MJ (Marion, Ar), SOCO (Hernando, MS), and The Lucky Acorn (Keller, TX) They all carry TXLUX soaps and it makes me so happy to see my soaps in different cities and states.

All products are handmade. My brand is important to me because I want it to reflect today’s world. What this means, each one of my soaps are going to be unique. We are all different colors, shapes, and size and so are these soaps! Just like humans, we are all unique, we all have different shapes, colors, size, sexuality, but we should I love all. My customers are the same, all different and each of them become a part of me, and are loved because they chose to support my brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We have multiple friends that fly in through the year. Me and my husband are both transplants. One of our favorite places to take people would be The Rustic. 1. The atmosphere and music is amazing. 2. The service is phenomenal 3. (Maybe the most important) they have an AMAZING Margarita with a homemade mango alcoholic popsicle in it!!

Another favorite place would be Old Town Winehouse. Those nights we want to relax and be chill, this is our place to take our friends! We love the chessboards, and half of wine Wednesday is our JAM! It also helps it is 5 minutes from our house and we love love love the service and people there!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Behind my success, there was that thought of giving up.

A huge reason I never gave up is because of family. My husband said simply “do you enjoy it?” And the answer was YES, and he said “Then why stop.”

He pushed me to not stop because it was something I loved, and it made me happy. He continues to help me and encourage me and I definitely have to make sure he knows he deserves credit to me not giving up.

Two other people that continue to support me are my sisters. From day 1, the continue to help me with creative ideas, and support me through this journey. They live 8 hours away, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be number 1 fans. They continue to buy soaps and not keep them, just to give them away to others who haven’t tried them in my hometown of Marion, Arkansas.

Thank you to these 3! I love y’all and thank you for always supporting me.
