Meet Ciarra True | Chef and Proprietor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ciarra True and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ciarra, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have always considered myself to be a risk taker. Although now that I’ve started my own business they are progressively becoming more calculated.
Since I was little I have always loved exploring, new places, cultures, cuisines and authentic experiences. After college I decided to go to culinary school as a way to understand how and why cultures and food connected.
It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After college I didn’t feel fulfilled at a desk job. I wanted to be creative and ultimately decided to goto culinary school after.
I think my curiosity for life and learning has been the driving factor to where I am today.
Some days I’m a plumber, electrician, chef, mechanic, and you have to just roll with the punches. By far the biggest challenge I’m continually overcoming is learning on the fly and rolling with the punches.
We’re in the ring and going for the KO.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Raised in a small town I love to keep it local and support not only my community, but my friends.
My favorite new speakeasy, The County Seat in Decatur, Texas is a must! Located in the square it brings small town charm to big city mixologists. Ladies night and epic happy hour specials with staff, patrons, and owners you make you feel at home.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am beyond blessed to have grown up with extremely supportive parents. They have always been supportive of my wild aspirations and encouraged me to start my business.
I’m thankful to have been able to grow up watching them run their own businesses. I cannot thank them enough for everything they have done. They were the cheerleaders chanting to take a risk on myself and chase my culinary dreams.
Thank you Mom and Dad.
