We had the good fortune of connecting with Chyna Norman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chyna, how do you think about risk?
100% of the chances you don’t take? You miss. You have to go in with the mindset that the worse thing that can happen is that you “fail”. Even then, it’s not about failing because what’s meant for you will never pass you by. You’ll never know unless you try. I like to go in with the mindset that I can have and obtain anything that I want, because I can. Your mindset creates your reality. If you’re constantly telling yourself that you can’t do something, you’ll never achieve it, then you will be stuck in a box. You’re free to do anything that you want, the only thing that’s holding you back is fear. It doesn’t matter where you come from, how much money you do and don’t have, it’s all about your faith. Your faith is what brings in blessings. I fell in love with taking risk! It’s opened doors for me that I’m beyond grateful for. I had to get out of the habit of self sabotaging things that were sent to me. Removing the mindset of not feeling “good enough” because that was all in my subconscious, my mind. I know that everything is always working out for me and if God is for me, who can be against me?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Faith is powerful. That’s the only thing that honestly keeps me going in the present moment. I knew down in my soul that something better was coming outside of my circumstances. I couldn’t give up. Every single day that I’m alive, I knew that was another chance for me to be better. I learned that no matter where you come from YOU CAN BE GREAT! I grew up on the Southside of Fort Worth, Texas. There were so many odds placed against me every single day, but I never fail victim. I knew I couldn’t let my circumstances define me. I refused to become a product of my environment. We don’t get to choose the family we’re born into, the community were placed in, the only thing we can do is take what was giving and make it our own. I had to keep my head on straight. The challenges and obstacles that I faced were only to mold me and build me into the person I am today. It builds character, morals, maturity. Life is all about lessons and blessings. Nothing is happening to you, it’s all happening for you. You have to change the way that you view the world. I worked extremely hard to get to this position, I know that God has so much more in store for me. You are not your past, your past was just a catalyst and a stepping stone to get you to where you are now. Forgive yourself, release, the best is yet to come.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Escape room, located in Downtown, Fort Worth is a very fun experience to enjoy with your friends or family. I’m obsessed with the Cheesecake Factory pasta and amazing cheesecakes. Torchys Tacos is one of my favorite taco stops, they also have really amazing queso! Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery located in Arlington, Texas has some great sweets, I’m a big fan of their big snickerdoodle cookies.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to honor and shoutout my dad, though he’s not here in the physical realm, I know he is forever watching over me and right by my side. He ALWAYS wanted the best for me and he made sure if it. He always encouraged me to push further than the odds that were placed against me. He believed in me. He seen my light and never gave up on me. When I had my mind set on a particular goal or plan he never shot me down. He stuck right beside me, regardless if it succeeded or not. He loved me unconditionally and always instilled into me the importance of independence, integrity, loving myself, doing right by not only myself, but others as well. He was my fuel! It was never a day where he wasn’t making sure I had the wisdom and knowledge to help me get through life. Often, we would sit in the car for HOURS, giving me pep talks, lessons, guidance. He never wanted to see me fall short. I’m truly honored and blessed to have had a farther figure who seen me and never once gave up on me. I love you daddy.
